With Gray & Whittakers injury troubles, we need decent right back cover. Also looking to the future, again with their injury records, whitty & gray wont go on much longer. This lads 23, long term planning is something we should being constantly trying to do.

Ooops! Hope we're not going to sign another player who has a closer relationship with the treatment table than with the playing field.
42 appearances lst season would suggest he had a good relationship with the playing field last season

thanks for sharing that. I think he will be off then in that case.
But am surprised he hasn’t left before now so sounds like he was persuaded to stay on but yet they haven’t signed anyone yet Time will tell

Could be an awkward one with this guy if he comes straight into the team considering we’ve just gave Gray a 4 year deal and he is our captain.

I also think with guys like Gray, Stevenson, Bartley we are losing more than a player, it’s that they know how much certain fixtures mean to the fans and won’t let us get bullied or be off the pace for them. Some new players coming in don’t get that. With those 3 you know they will compete for every ball and make it a real game, they will handle the frantic manner.

This guy must be some player if he’s going to dislodge Gray.

Apparently the boy James can play across the whole back 4 comfortably.

If he's a better player then it's a good thing, Sir David hasn't shirked a single challenge since he arrived at the club and I imagine he'll rise to this one as well.

I'd be more concerned he was part of the defence from a team that dropped out the bottom division down South..... doesn't fill me with optimism. However I know nowt about him and happy to reserve judgement until he signs and shows us what he can do. We don't have a good record of signing good (better than we have) full backs in recent years.

Played defensive mid on occasion aswell. Wonder if this is where we see him playing?

BBC reported that the player and WBA couldnt agree terms, nothing to suggest fitness was an issue and as you say he played a lot last year

Write 'The Ballad of Tom James'. At every set piece after that he'll find himself in Space.

Wasn't John McGinn part of a relegated team? Just because his team mates are pish doesn't mean that he might not be a relevation with good players around him.

It’s not unusual to take some poetic license in these situations.

Could be wrong but wasn't he in the company of Kenny McLean when they got relegated?

Depends on what website or paper you read, most have said terms this one says fitness, cant see how fitness would have been an issue if he played over 40 games but who knows

Think they had a midfield 3 if Mcginn, Mclean and Mallan.

The rest of their team must have been really ***** 😂

Not idea mate, it was the first link when I googled Tom James West Brom.

I liked Craig James when he was here so for that reason I like this signing 😁

Linked to a Norwich goalie who Blackburn want too.

We spent half of this season with no good rb because Gray was injured. Do people think we should be going into the season with only Gray as a rb? Whittaker is no where near good enough so we need one in, just means Gray will have to play well to keep his place which is how it should be.

McLean left before they went down for sure.

    Stand corrected then, apologies.

Just remember this being discussed on here before and someone saying that, that’s what I get for believing what I read on hibs.net.

Jon McCracken linked, Young Scottish goal keeper.

Previously with Hamilton, seems we would have competition though as Newcastle also interested.
