Partick are always doing something unusual. Fair play to them for being a bit different. Nothing wrong with what they're doing

When did LGBT become a bandwagon? Must have missed that.

Also it's quite a subtle shirt so I fail to see what the issue is?

A lot right with it in fact. This kind of statement is important, and the predictable homophobia in the responses to the kit release reinforces this point.

Great stuff from Thistle, another reason to respect them as a club. 👏

That Thistle away kit is a great effort, even discounting the laudable sentiment behind the rainbow trim. A released strip is always preferable to an unreleased one........

New Partick kits have just dropped for next season. The away tops caused a bit of a stir given the rainbow trimmings but personally can’t see anything wrong with it and looks more like a standard black n white kit than anything else

Bit of a recent Hibs vibe here...top itself is quite nice but what an awful collar!

It is not an issue whatever the reasons of that club, supportive or not. But a bandwagon might be defined as ‘something that is currently popular and attracting increasing support.’ I think whatever anyone’s views are, that that might be a reasonable and non homophobic description of the coverage of the personal issues loosely lumped together as lgbt under a rainbow banner.

Not pointing any fingers or supporting any perceptions when making the observation that leaping on others because of a perception that their underlying views might be different, actually risks an accusation of intolerance..... which is kind of ironic

Who said there was an issue? LGBT is a big thing right now so yes I think it is clever, it highlights their support for the LGBTQ community and they might even sell a few more shirts

The rainbow is only on the sides of the kit so a bit pointlessly subtle imho

I must have misread you. I saw bandwagon and thought it was a negative post.

I'm surprised more clubs haven't done similar. Although I have noticed an increase in awareness of LGBT over the last few months from a lot of clubs. With the exception of the Glasgow bigot brothers.. But are we surprised at that..

The LGBT bandwagon is about 4 years old now, however the trim on the strip is actually a political statement fighting the increasing prejudice and marginalisation of George, Jeffrey, Zippy and Bungle.

Am I the only one not seeing a rainbow trim but it's really a yellow/black and red one.

On a closer look I now see it on the side of the white away top, very subtle.

Thistle strip looks like Albion Rovers. Where are their traditional stripes?

Quite possibly, the only sensible post on this entire thread.

Hearts are doing more, they've seemingly got a forward line next season of Rod, Jane and Freddy

I mean in truth that away kit's trims are red, black and yellow, which are Patrick's colours, no? Still good on them for celebrating inclusivity - at the end of the day that's what the rainbow symbol stands for, beyond just representing any certain group. Only right that a football club, especially one with a bit of heart in a citywide football scene dominated by two particular club cultures with very selective notions of inclusivity, should count it as a core value and show their support. I don't see it as jumping on a bandwagon or cashing in at all, any more in a certain sense than Hearts having their Save the Children sponsorship (though circumstances are v obviously different there in more than one way). Given homophobia is, let's face it, rife in the wider Scottish football culture I'm all in favour of it and I'd be more than happy to see us as a similarly inclusive club do the same or similar sometime.

Going back to the original point though, is that trim red, yellow and black, or are my eyes deceiving me?

Edit: just had a closer look at the side stripes. I'm an idiot. Leaving this here for posterity...

Still don’t think they’ll be on sale before the start of July. Just need to wait and see now

At least it's not the blue one they had a couple seasons ago. Still don't understand who thought that was a good idea.
