Remember we didn't get the McGinn money till near the end of the window, that should still be there.

No further info re players or positions, just 2 bodies in to be unveiled next week. Encouraged by us getting some early business done.

He was a loan, his wage would be within our wage structure, remember we don't always pay loan players full wages.

Were we cautious with our money last year? I would guess it’s probably the most we’ve spent in quite a while

    Paid fee’s for

    Kamberi
    Mallan
    Horgan

    Free’s

    Milligan
    Nelom

    Loans

    MacLaren (Option to buy)
    Aygepong
    Bogdan
    Hyndman

Even the loan players would have been on big wages that we would have to cover a % of. I don’t think we recruited the best in terms of balance but I’m not sure we can say we were overly cautious with money.

Re McNulty - I think a couple of big bonuses for us is he loves the club and manager, is from Edinburgh and is now in the Scotland squad. Hopefully that swings in our favour, even if we get him we still need 1 more striker imo.
I definitely think we should have pushed the boat out a bit and went for Kamara rather than Mark Milligan. That might have cost us a fee last summer but we would have got a better player who would now be a sellable asset.

The pessimist in me says that they will be able to outstrip out wage offer, but we can offer him living in his home city. Money talks unfortunately.

No doubt PH has got plenty of contacts and options.
I think signing for Hibs gives him a better chance of getting in Scotland squads, which might swing it in our favour.

Hibs: Hey Marc we can offer you 3k, a guaranteed first team position, working with a great manager under Hecky, the chance to move back to your home town and see all your mates/family, great training facilities/stadium and a chance to make Europe and cement your place in the Scotland squad.
McNulty: Sounds good, I'll think about it
Coventry: We can give you 10k
    McNulty: Sold!

The two youngsters we’ve just signed for the development squad? Jack Hodge & Josh Doig

McNulty will be aware of the money he can earn elsewhere But he has gone on record as saying he would push for a move back to Hibs Clearly it’s not as simple as that But he did not need to come out and say that . Therefor I think there is a genuine desire from him to make it happen If Hibs want him as No 1 Striker then there is a deal to be done at some point I think Probably mean we have to give them a large slice of any future Transfer fee possibly
They are desperate for money though so will try and offload him down south Bit if he thinks it’s best to revive his career back at Hibs even if just for a season with view to bigger move then we have a chance

Please no more squad fillers like Nelom, Mavrais. Would rather just play the younger players

That's OK. If you hear anything just post it. It's a rumours thread after all (despite appearances to the contrary sometimes ) so just keep those rumours coming!

Am I right in thinking Coventry are in a bit of a mess. Don't think they are even playing in Coventry next season.

    Maybe not an attractive proposition.

Bit of an ongoing row with the Ricoh Owners, Wasps Rugby.

Sure I read somewhere they were close to an agreement with Birmingham City to ground share.

Coventry's turnover for the 2017-18 season was less than £6m and their wage bill was less than £5m. They won't be offering £10k per week to anyone.

I would go for the £10k at Coventry as well, no brainier decision for a footballer.

Bear in mind that it's Reading rather than Coventry we would be dealing with. Reading are not actually desperate for money as their current owners do seem willing to pony up where necessary (in contrast to the last two regimes) but they do need to cut costs as they are perilously close to breaching the FFP rules. I suppose the bottom line is the same though as they won't be in a position to just give McNulty away.

  29. #1438
Peterborough Utd have just signed a striker for over £1.25M. They have a capacity of just over 15k with an average attendance of around 8k.

Average weekly wage at Coventry is less than £1200. If we really wanted McNulty and it was between us and Coventry we should be winning that battle.

Ryan Hedges to Aberdeen is the latest rumour I’ve seen. Think he was one of the wingers released by Barnsley that was mentioned earlier in the thread.
