I can't see Mallan and Allan playing in the same team irrespective of who the other players are.

I could see one or the other working fine with Dylan.
I don’t think Mallan will be a first team player next season.

Mallan has improved a lot since he came, hes more physical and looks a lot fitter and faster, a good pre season and he can only get better, him and Allan with a mobile quick DM sitting just behind them would do me.

Yep, Jack Ross tried to hijack the deal and take Flo to Sunderland instead
Jack Ross heard about the abundance of seagulls at Easter Road and a couple of days later he was hanging about the stadium with bags of chips and a giant net.

Not read the whole thread but I heard Lawrence Shankland was signing. No idea if this is correct but apparently the person who passed it on claimed it was from a good source.

Was this on the members board? Not seen it anywhere

Fwiw I would be disappointed with Flo leaving as he showed last season he is a great player on his day.

Would Dylan suit what Heckingbottom wants? Pace, physicality and athleticism? Where would that leave Mallan and Allan? It would be a great midfield 3 for keeping the ball and creating chances but not at defending.

I can’t see us playing those 3 in the middle together based on what Heckingbottom has said.

I saw someone reply to the tweet saying the reason Flo fell out with Lennon was as he wanted to come out as openly gay but Lennon wasn’t supportive I imagine that is absolute nonsense.
The girl in my office who is going out with him will be shocked!

So why post that if you imagine it's nonsense? (And I'd bet it is nonsense by the way)

So I’m the same way, why reply if you imagine it’s nonsense?

It was a direct reply about a transfer involving him where a hibs fan said that’s the reason behind it.

Worth posting imo to see if anyone had heard similar. Certainly wouldn’t expect that from Lennon and if it was the case I wouldn’t want him representing my club.

In fairness there was some suggestion at the time that whatever had been said was homophobic. Of course the statements issued by both Hibs and NL made it clear that this couldn’t possibly have happened, and nor could anything else bad, but NL was still leaving.

So our openly gay MD would not encourage a player who wants to come out to say something. Aye that makes sense.

Think I will believe twitter over common sense.

Gonna have to sign some player to replace his goals and assists from midfield then

Purely speculation, but could that not have added to the breakdown between them both?

I think that will be sorted over the summer. Not that I’m hoping it’s the case I just don’t think he will be in outfield first choice next season.

I’m not sure why. From the team at the weekend, we’ll likely keep the same shape IMO. We’ll have a new energetic player in place of Milligan. Allan takes Omeonga’s place as the more advanced central midfielder.

Malians job recently has been to get around the park and keep the ball moving. He’s largely done that very well in the post split games. He’ll keep improving as Heckingbottom works with him. Might find another new arrival comes in ahead of him but there’ll be no issues with Mallan and Allan in the same side

my take on the whole thing was NL did say something Homophobic from which there was no return, but he had just been talking about what he gets called from the stand and how bad it is, now if the homophobic comment had come out he'd have looked pretty hypocritical, so he left by "mutual consent" for less money, we saved money he saved face.

    all in my head obviously

There has been a lot of talk of 442 being Hecky's preferred set up.

That is what he initially put in place when he came in until he realised we didn't have the players to pull it off, the way he wanted us to, successfully, and switched to putting Kamberi out wide.

He stuck with it because it was working for us and getting the results we needed with the players at his disposal.

He has allowed Bartley and Milligan to leave suggesting he doesn't intend to play with a dedicated defensive midfielder and looks like he has been trying to get Mallan to play more box to box rather than just as an attacking midfielder since he came in.

Both those things suggest to me that our midfielders will be expected to be more all-purpose players rather than having specific defensive/attacking roles which points to there being less in midfield than the 5 man set up we have been using with a defensive midfielder sitting deep and attacking midfielders/wingers in front of them.

Your maybe right and a Liverpool style 4-3-3 could be on the card as well but I'm just going with what we have been told about Hecky liking a good old 442
I don’t think we’ll be playing 4-4-2. I think he played it in the first few games to keep things simple for the squad and assess the players available.

Wouldn’t suit Allan or Boyle and whoever you play in centre midfield, they’re gonna be up against it.

Can't imagine why you would think that. The Player's POTY who started every league game under Hecky. I'd imagine he'd be about the 1st name on the team sheet.

Flo Kamberi was our joint top scorer with 13 goals. that was despite zero craft from midfield for most of the season and the fact he was pushed out wide to fit mcnulty in.

throw in the fact Lennon battered him at every chance.

I love dylan and I'd love him back but I wouldn't be swapping flo, we'd be left with Shaw...

plus flo was at his best with Scott Allan behind him. that's happening soon.

But he was rubbish for months!! That period between October and March he suddenly became an imposter and went missing, doesn't like the midfield battle and his only attributes are set-pieces. Surely the manager doesn't see anything in him!

It’d be a mistake to bin Flo. He’s demonstrated he can do it. Just needs the confidence back that Lennon ripped out of him.

The end of of season form was largely down to him being shunted out left

Here’s hoping, because he was effective during his loan spell and I was delighted we got him signed up on a long term contract.

That bought him a lot of leeway, but the goodwill factor has pretty much dried up. He was gash for most of the season, albeit he scored a couple of very good goals.

Who knows what has happened to him. Playing with an injury, poor management, changes to personnel supplying the ammunition, loss of confidence have probably all contributed.

Personally, I want him to stay, fight for a place and grown up a bit as a player.
He sometimes looks very naive in the way he plays. Too easily booked and too easily goaded into the physical battle. He needs to wisen up and get his emotions in check. More than one way to skin a cat etc, etc.

He didn’t play much for him at Barnsley and Allan is a better player also I think Hecky favours Horgan.
