He wasn’t my cup of tea and I don’t want him back but I think he never really stood a chance.

His best games came when there were two forwards ahead of him and that rarely happened while he was here. We never really found a system that suited him so I don’t think we saw the best in him.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he goes on to have a decent career, I doubt very much If it’ll be in Scotland though.

Hyndman always looked pretty decent but is a bit like Gauld and a lightweight, never really looked like he could roll up his sleeves and get stuck in when needed.

The boys a good footballer. We have had a hell of a lot more gash players than him in the last few years.

    This.

Need to remember there's a lot of grades between "Legend" and "Gash".
Most of the players we're likely to see are somewhere between those two.

I'd be very concerned if we went into next season trying to find a way to accommodate Allan, Mallan and Hyndman.

    They'd be torn to pieces.

Allan fills the luxury player role for me next year, we're looking for energy, pace, graft, movement and a wee bit of defensive help to get the best from him.

Don't know why Hyndman is even being debated as a credible signing on here. We have two players that play his exact position and whom are both better than him. We don't need another one.

Absolutely agree. If I'm honest I'd potentially have Mallan as a back up to Allan and get some real drive and fight to fill the centre mid. Easier said than done but as you say Mallan is a luxury player most of the time

I genuinely forgot he was with us on loan earlier in the season. Maybe that's just me getting older but not a great sign.

I stand by what I said regarding possibly being hindered by Lennon's recline, but he had Brian Kerr levels of invisibility.

Hope we stay well clear of Hyndman. Hardly contributed when he was here and I had forgotten he had actually gone back to Bournemouth when his loan spell had ended.

Hyndman is a good footballer. He is coached really well and does some really nice things with the football.

But he doesn't have the heart, desire or ruthlessness to make it on these shores and he was (largely) rubbish or injured for us. Scott Allan pisses all over him.

On other loanee news it appears Hibs are trying to sign up the two sniffer dog we had on loan for the last two games on permenant deals. The agent for Garry and Barry is reported as saying they are within a whisker of putting paws to paper on the deal.

Mallan is still relatively young and developing as a player. His shooting and dead-ball delivery are excellent but he is clearly working on other aspects of his game to make him a better all-round player, but that doesn't happen overnight.

I think there is a conscious effort being made to play him in deeper lying positions and to develop him into the type of role McGeouch played to accommodate Allan coming in as our first-choice attacking midfielder.

You'd have our player of the season as back up?

He isn't everyone's player of the season.

While true, while would he budge? I wouldn’t if I’m ripping the worse out of £10kpw.

I thought he showed all of those qualities during his second stint here last season

At the end of every game his shirt was covered in sweat and there was a big smile on his face

Do you actually watch the game when you go to Easter Road?

    Er, aye.

I'm not doubting his work ethic but in my opinion he's not a player you want back on the edge of his own box making tackles.

He's like Latapy - you build a team around him in order for him to work hard and produce his magic in the areas that matter most rather than waste him getting him to do stuff that he's not so good at and less gifted players than him are better at.

We've wasted a few players in the past in this way. It would be criminal if we were to do the same with Allan.

The other players I mentioned aren't dissimilar, in that you have to have the right players and the right team set up to get the best out of Mallan and Hyndman. Trying to accommodate even 2 of them would be a disaster (see the first half of this season).

    “Luxury player”

Otherwise known as the best player in the team who will win you games. Might not run about like a headless chicken but gets on the ball, takes responsibility and makes things happen.

    Funny old phrase....

Really it was obvious he had talent however always IMO gave the impression he didnt really want to be here. Maybe a better coach would get more out of him as to me was delighted we signed him. Was a bit disappointing in the main.
I’d be ****ing devastated if we signed Hyndman. He was absolutely atrocious.

I see Partick released Souleymane Coulibaly - think he would be a fantastic signing if he replicated his Killie form. He's had a bizarre last 2 seasons mind you.

Scott Allan showed by his performances for us that he was glad to be back home and was prepared to roll up his sleeves and get stuck in

Perhaps due to the way he left us under a Hun cloud the first time he was here

His stats do not stand up for scrutiny

    Played 12 won 6 drawn 5 lost 1 scored 3

I do not think you have to worry about Scott Allan making tackles on the edge of his own box

    All hands to the pump

He is the guile the goals and the killer pass we have been missing

He has a lot of catching up to do due to wasted time

Allan is streets ahead of Mallan and Hyndman

Allan is not a “luxury player” he makes things happen

Are you at the wynd up?
