This was sent to me by a the Rangers fan. It's quite amusing in its own way:-

Alan Stubbs 2015:- We won't do a guard of honour because its a Derby and fan safety would be an issue.

Alan Stubbs 2016:- We won't do a guard of honour due to simmering rivalry between Hibs & Rangers.

Alan Stubbs 2019:- Rangers lack class for not doing a guard of honour.

Stubbs isn’t the sharpest knife in the cutlery drawer.

People associated with The Rangers need to start acting honourably.

Callum MacGregor is right about this - Celtic know they are champions, they don’t need a pat on the back. This guard of honour stuff is pointless.

From my memory, on neither occasion were we the first game after the league was won. IIRC Hertz we’re looking for a guard of honour at every game for the next 2 years! Stubbs is bang on!

In my opinion, the champions shouldn’t be looking for or expecting a GoH. The host team should give them a GoH, only if they genuinely admire the champions’ achievements and want to show it. It’s a load of tosh, anyway, and if it’s an on-going issue, the blazers should ban GoH’s.

Aye and Hibs gave a guard of honour to Hearts for their 1986 Double win.

And to Rangers for winning the 2016 Cup Final.

Lots of hun replies to that tweet suggesting Hibs should give rangers a guard of honour after they win the 2016 cup final

Remind me, how did that go...

I only recalled the hearts one and was sure it was something along those lines.

If we didn’t do the rangers one because it’s the huns then I’m okay with that too.

    Sounds entirely rational to me.

Thought the least we could have done was reroute the redundant 1986 title winning open top bus down Leith Walk with Sir Albert taking pride of place at the front.

I would have turned out for that one!

I did turn out with a few friends, to laugh at the 40 or so Jambo's crying in to their maroon handkerchiefs, outside The Caledonian Hotel. I think that is where the victory parade was meant to be from.

I still remember Easter Road going mental when the score from Dundee came through. We were playing Dundee Utd, the players on the pitch seemed to pause momentarily as they didn't understand why everyone was going mental.

Remember when Hibs didn't give Hearts or Rangers a guard of honour then went out and skelped them?

The difference with Hearts is they were wanting a guard of honour from every team they played not just from the next team they played after winning it.

Personally i think they should but psychology plays a huge part in football. Applauding the champions on the park goes a long way to being beaten before the game has even started. Applauding them off the park would be my preference a bit like the rugby lads.

We took a throw in, the place erupted and my 8 year old son asked me "what was so special about the throw?" The innocence of youth

Nah he’s just being two faced in order to have a dig at the zombies.

    Fair enough really.

They could even have headed along Sir Albert Street.
