Missing from the discussion about Trumps legacy is possibly his most serious, his opposition to climate science and his links to the coal and fossil fuel industries. The domestic and international environmental legislation he's torn up this year can be reversed when he's eventually out of office but the effects will be felt for years to come.

Tweet this morning... 'In the East it could be the Coldest new years eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!

I can't remember where the quote came from, but it was along the lines of "There are now no climate change deniers, only people who don't understand it".

Trump's that much of a raging ****wit that he definitely falls into that category.

I have no time for Trump, in fact I find it very challenging to not utter the words "he's a ****ing ****hole" whenever I see him or one of his tweets.

You and Trump sing from the same page that's surprising.

Trumps first tweet of the year. Maybe we’re seeing a softer, more diplomatic side to the man.

“The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!”

Good to see him solidly sticking to his campaign promise to focus more on domestic politics and less on the international stage......

"North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!"

Any Trump supports care to defend this asinine tweet from the pres?

I'm not a supporter of Trump but his style is all about results and not based on saying things in a nice way so it doesn't offend anyone (Obama style nice with words but achieves nothing).

You did note that NK have now offered an olive branch to SK? Is this down to Trumps pressure on NK? Could be argued so.

It's more than sending athletes to the Olympic Games, they have opened up a hot line of communication for the first time in two years, which makes it possible for further diplomacy between the two countries which can only be a good thing.

Why is there no "gossip" like that about, say, Barrack Obama?
Most probably because all the biased left wing media support Obama and not Trump.

Come on now mate , you seriously think competing in the Winter Olympics is top of Kim Jongs to do list for the year . Either he's feeling the pressure or he's trying to buy a bit more time to advance his nuclear and biological weapons program .

Why stroke your chin is it because you can only view everything through far left tinted glasses.

I don't support Trump. I think he is a Freemason working the agenda like Obama before him and Bush before him.

Pathetic, childish stuff from someone in such a powerful role. When I read these kinds of tweets I genuinely have to go and check that its not some piss-take parody account. Any American with a brain cell must simply cringe at this buffoon, he's making America an utter global laughing stock.

This circus is becoming more worrying by the day.

that's the worst put down I've ever heard. It doesn't even make sense. Suppose it were true, and I wore far left tinted glasses (which isn't even a thing to my knowledge), how would this encourage me to stroke my chin?

Back to planet reality, the interesting thing about the Trump descent into infantile madness is that it isn't affecting the polling. Broadly the same proportion of Americans approve of him as did when he won the election. A minority, but a significant and committed one. It looks like Trump could climb up Mount Rushmore and take a pish down Lincolns coupon and the Party would shrug and blame the Liberal media. The new law of politics is to entrench your popular base and forget courting the middle ground, which is the exact opposite of what we've been told 'works' in politics for my entire lifetime. The postwar consensus is over and nobody knows what's going on anymore.

I would just like to thank the posters for making me realise this guy was stroking his chin. I always thought his index finger was his right arm going up and down and he was up to something much more sinister (hidden by his other hand).

It's stopped me using it as I couldn't work out how it would ever be appropriate (Griffiths rumours aside) - good start to 2018 with a new emoticon in my repertoire.

That's pretty much like saying Florence Nightingale got favourable press coverage compared to Myra Hindley.

Not quiet Obama was the presentable face of evil.

A more fitting way to describe it would be saying Rose West got more favourable press coverage than Myra Hindley.
