With us starting the draft early it's sometimes dodgy to make certain selections since guys can get hurt in OTAs, training and pre-season games. For positions like K, you can usually find a serviceable guy later on so it can be a good gamble to skip the K in the draft, see how your roster pans out and then pickup a K before the first game.
Hence why I am not taking a kicker until the last round I was thinking more of the input of players into rosters once we're done and if it will allow a roster not to have drafted a kicker. I've been using an app to keep track of the players and picks and when I went to draft Funchess in Calvin's team it wouldn't allow me as it said he was required to take a d and a kicker. I just wondered if NFL.com would be the same.

I do think it is a good strategy btw! Rather load up on RB lottery tickets than draft a kicker!

Nah NFL.com lets you have as many benched players as you want.

I also got a warning (Rotowire app) but it allowed me to assign the player anyway.

    Lol.
    NOW it's a laughable pick.

In case the news hasn't broken yet, Geno Smith is out for up to 10 weeks after a fight - sucker punched (broken jaw) by someone on his own team.

    Twitter link

    Update:
How do we want to handle draft after we're done with the final round? I know for a fact that I don't want Geno Smith on my team now and maybe NOLA wants to rethink his Arian Foster pick. Should we have an extra round to allow people to replace players that have been injured? The draft order would remain unchanged. If you want to swap out a player then when it's your pick you can do that, otherwise you can skip your pick. I think one extra round should be sufficient unless anyone has been unlucky enough to draft two seriously injured players. The alternative is that everyone's roster is entered as-is and then we go to the waiver wire. There's still plenty of time to update rosters before the season starts, I'm just thinking of efficiency. Thoughts?

I think we should just go to the waiver wire, maybe Gatecrasher could set the order to match the draft order?

That's pretty much my thinking, I don't see much value picking a kicker at the minute. You're almost able to go through the season claiming a kicker off the waivers each week according to the matchups, although it is more work...

I'm fine with either approach since the selection order won't change (assuming the draft order remains the same as it is now).

We've managed 14 rounds out of 15. I think we should just finish on here - it would just be needlessly overcomplicating things introducing the waiver wire as part of the draft

I though Max was asking what to do after the final round, not instead of the final round. I want to complete the final round, theres nothing quite like waiting for 15 picks nervous in the hope that Tebow is still on the board for my back up QB.....

Nothing overly complicated. Just one more round in addition to our 15 so that people can modify their roster. No worries, we can still do that after all the rosters have been entered.

Interesting pick. Did you know he could be set to sign for Arizona before making that pick or was it a genuine punt in the dark?

Glad I never took a "deep-sleep" gamble on Devin Smith (WR, Jets) as he has fractured ribs and a punctured lung!

Speed, agility, height and strength and a superb route runner in college, I'm surprised he was still on the board before his injury.

4th on the depth chart behind Marshall, Decker and Kerley. He wasn't going to play enough to warrant any fantasy value. In fact I'd add Amaro as another player who would get more snaps than him. Definitely one drafted with the future in mind rather than for this year.

When the draft is over I will be ensuring the draft order is set up for waivers. I have set the waiver period for 2 days this year this will give teams plenty of time to replace injured players and allow those further up the draft order to have priority for the first 2 days then it goes to FA. I will notify on this thread and PM's when the teams are set up and that will signal the start of the 2 day waiver period. I hope everyone finds this fair.

I reckoned he would have got more time on the field than Kerley who was poor for you last season! I agree that Decker and Marshall are definitely ahead of him in your depth chart but he definitely provided a "home run" option with his speed and ability to get downfield.
