I know the draft is a bit long, but there seems to be very little chance of making a live draft work. If you want to try and arrange one next year be my guest.
OK, I will do that. All we need is a single two hour block when everyone can be by a computer. That doesn't sound like it should be too difficult. I realise that I am the odd man out being 5 hours behind but I don't mind getting up early to make it happen. I would guess that everyone here has spent a lot more than two hours on this draft over the past couple of weeks, albeit is chunks.

Hate to break it to you but a live draft would take a hell of a lot longer than 2 hours if we had 16 teams picking 15 players. If you do get it going you should use ESPN for the game instead of nfl.com though as its a lot better for live draft games and will cut the time down a bit.

An alternitive would be agree to gather on here for a particular time and batter through as much as we can until someone has to go then carry on the draft as we're doing it at the moment. If you can make a live draft work, go for it!

Really? Nowhere near enough time and guarantee you it wouldn't work. My other league was 5mins a turn and even then your pushing it unless your gonna just pick the next guy in order. Does make it exciting though when you've got to beat the clock . (We don't have 16 players either).

30 seconds is how we do it on ESPN. We get our draft completed during a single lunch time. If you don't make a pick in 30 seconds, you get an auto-pick.

    We do have 16 players:
    1. No Romo (Kirky)
    2. The Late Hits (Bollah)
    3. Byrds and the Brees (Darren)
    4. Loch Ness Monsters (Sergio)
    5. The Uphill Gardeners
    6. Revis Islanders (Ayrshire)
    7. Hampshire Claymore (Sylar)
    8. Haymakers Patriots (Haymaker)
    9. Ragin' Cajuns (NOLA)
    10. Boston Bawbags (DH)
    11. Uber Alles (Gatecrasher)

    14. Finsagogo (Hi8sry)
    15. Edinburgh Dolphins (brythehibby)
    16. Edinburgh Giants (smithyhibee)

    15 roster spots.

I personally believe that as long as you are prepared, 30 seconds is long enough. I think a lot of people have solid ideas of who they want to pick but obviously you are at the mercy of other people and their picks. As the draft progresses, you're really taking the best that's left or start picking your sleepers which is where your preparedness counts.

We should be good but we don't want to cut it too fine since the players have all got to be entered and at least one person (Bry w/Sam Bradford) might want to make an immediate roster change. I am not sure of any other injuries. Charles Sims is out but nobody took him.

Three rounds to go! We'll do it easy!

Fwiw I personally love the epic marathon that is the offline draft! It gives you time to think about your picks and it's a tense wait to see if your potential pick will fall to you!

Apart from the speed aspect of a live draft, it's also easier as you always know who has already been picked, you don't need to keep track of that. That eliminates the duplicate picks we sometimes see.

I suggested that after the draft is complete, anyone who has drafted a player who is out for the year should get a chance to swap that player for someone else. Right now I think that's just Bry. Not my league, not my rules, just a suggestion.

You're right, injuries are part of the game but a lot of people don't draft until after the pre-season so the injury concerns are out of the way. When it comes to in-season, injuries have to be dealt with via waiver wire pickups.

Can you not make changes from free agency up until the first game once the draft was complete anyway so it shouldn't be a problem?

    Is it my pick?

Josh Gordon's suspension is upheld! Was worth the risk I guess!
This is another example of where I think a player should be allowed to swap a player at the end of the draft. Up to the group as a whole though. If a player gets suspended after the season starts, tough, head over to the waiver wire.

Can you not make changes from free agency up until the first game once the draft was complete anyway so it shouldn't be a problem?

    Is it my pick?
If you can then I think we're all set. I don't recall to be honest.

It's Darren and he has 2 hours to make his pick.
