    Sounds like they're getting desperate.

With relegation a foregone conclusion why would bdo be keen to add to the wage bill? I got it at the start of the season but now there'd be no point?

There were rumours a few months ago that BDO and other yam officials met with SPFL/SFA to explore the possibilities and were told there were none. This may have been alluded to in the December interviews with BDO when they said there was no chance.

I reckon todays fuss may have been as a result of a post on sofarfarawayback with a resident advising of a chat with a Hibby who had said the talks had taken place.

Funnily enough this hobbo/hobbit has been taken most seriously and must be in the know unlike the rest of us who know nothing :-)

Thanks S, it's a tad ambiguous in that it doesn't say when those talks took place. I suspect they took the form of a very brief phone call, 1 hour though for billing purposes! On a separate note that's the most downbeat assessment I think I've ever read from BDO. "Cautiously optimistic" but at the same time really getting the begging bowl out again to get them through the season. Strangely no mention of their imminent exit from administration!

Indeed, brog - that statement wasn't the usual bells and whistles that BDO have previously been putting out.

"You also have to remember that we're here, hopefully in a temporary capacity..." They certainly know that they could be there for the long-haul and/or liquidation.

It's pleasing that all the fund-raising by the Yams is partially lining the pockets of BDO.

So BDO said previously they would struggle to see out the season and here they are trying to add to the wage bill?

either they haven't budgeted for life in the championship, or, probably more likely they were willing to punt a higher earner to get a couple of cheaper players in the door to keep the fans interested. I wonder if they are worried that relegation is coming too quick and that any walk ups will stop?

I don't honestly believe the SFA have the balls to kick out it's 3rd biggest team, it would just be more games off the telly (edinburgh derby + both OF games)

Hearts' administrator has failed in its effort to have the transfer restrictions at Tynecastle lifted.
Bryan Jackson, of BDO, said discussions with the Scottish FA had failed to bear fruit, with the ban in place until Hearts come out of administration.
"We've put all the arguments forward and, not surprisingly, they've all been rejected," he told BBC Scotland.
The Edinburgh club are bottom of the Premiership, 19 points behind Ross County.
Hearts entered administration in June, with BDO reporting debts in excess of £28m.
Sunday's defeat at home by Partick Thistle saw the troubled Edinburgh outfit, who are operating with a smaller squad this season, slip 20 points behind their opponents.
And Jackson sympathises with manager Gary Locke's plight.
    Play media

Highlights - Hearts 0-2 Partick Thistle

"Nothing is going to change with regard to the sanctions and I feel really sorry for Gary in that we can't do anything to help him," added Jackson.
"Those restrictions are there, we've tried and there's nothing we can do about it.
"We're sticking with Gary and hopefully Gary's sticking with us. He's shown fantastic loyalty since we went into administration and we have to show the same to him.
"Everybody knows he's a Hearts man through and through; quite frankly to even think of changing management at this time, with the squad of players we've got, you'd have to be some kind of miracle worker.
"Gary's doing incredibly well with the resources that he has. Anybody else coming in, they're going to have the same resources. You also have to remember that we're here, hopefully in a temporary capacity.
"So, that's a major decision and something to be considered for the future. That would be for new owners rather than the administrators."
Jackson said he remains "cautiously optimistic" that Hearts will come through their financial problems.
"It is about saving the club and I hope all the fans will continue to turn up, support the team and hopefully we can get through the next few months successfully," he added

What I don't understand is presumably any additions to the squad or new signings would increase their overheads and cash burn, and even then unlikely to save them from relegation ? So what is the point ? Is this just "Big team" posturing by the Yams who must know that they're doomed to relegation ?

It's quite funny really cos they STILL don't GET IT.

They have broken the rules and are being punished accordingly.

Simple as that. Every team signed up to the rules and put the measures in place.

Get on with it and stop all this ****ing moaning about it being unfair.

You were happy to take the so called glory now take the doom and gloom.

Get it roond ye ya bunch of roasters.

It stumps me as well. Why would a company with no money, has £££Millions of uncleared debt and creditors who are likely to get zip, look for approval to spend more money that they don't have ???

Presumably, they would get rid of a couple of their highest earners, and get 4/5 in.

  29. #34798
A couple of extra wee tidbits from this.

Apparently BDO have also asked for an advance on their end of season payment. They offered to take the money for 12th place and even if they manage to finish higher they would not ask for any more. This was also rejected, as was any other form of financial help from the SFA or the SPFL.

Furthermore BDO sought clarification on what would happen if Gary Locke was unable to field a team. Jackson was told he has "more than enough players available that this shouldn't be a problem" and that "Ensuring footballing ability and competitiveness is down to the club and not the responsibility of the SFA" essentially saying "But they players are crap" isn't going to fly as an excuse. Jackson was reminded of the rules and that any team that fails to meet it's obligation to fulfil a fixture the circumstances would be investigated on a case by case basis.

Is thsi by any chance the same Bryan Jackson who said a couple of weeks ago that he doesn't know if the Yams' will be able to survive until March? How can they afford to contemplate signing new players, when they clearly don't know how long they can pay the existing staff? And what about the debts they owe in unpaid wages/bonuses, plus the players made redundant, plus the players who had to take a wage cut?

    Irony bypass, methinks!

Going to get very messy the longer it goes on. Current stage is "poor us", "take pity on our poor wee lambs". Once that's rejected and they continue to get humped by properly managed SPFL teams, the next stage in their grieving process will be anger. Someone (other than us) is to blame. The Liths, BDO, SFA, other SPFL teams will start getting blamed for everything that's happened.
