How often have we all moaned about not being able to pass 5 yards or take throw ins properly? That's not down to the manager
Manager signs and coaches the players so down to him in my book.

So I see after 12 games James Collins has became the latest scapegoat

How was Sparky after 12 games btw?

this he's a young guy he'll come good.... Let's slaughter him until he does though that will help him along

You can say that about most of our midfield.

Craig screwed up plenty today, but I don't see him getting much abuse? Oh, forgot he did have one shot on target, he must be a superstar!!

I ain't a Stevenson fan, but the amount of times he gets singled out by the Hibs armchair masses just shows how much they don't know about football!
It's a match update thread, Stevenson hit several poor crosses and people are commenting on that. Hardly getting abuse.

He maintained possession well throughout the game and had 2 poor crosses the rest were dangerous. He also actually ran and cut inside which is a bonus. There are worse players just now than Lewis
Brilliant. He maintained posession. That's what we're crying our for on the wing. IMO we don't have enough midfielders who can pass the ball around midfield.

By the way he probably gave the ball away as much as anyone in the team today with his piss poor crosses.

The last paragraph, so if he gave it away as much as anyone else, where is you saying they are a waste of a shirt? Something wrong with you

How people on here can say we have a top 4 squad is beyond me.
We don't, but if you repeat something often enough on .net it becomes fact.

A few key issues for me:

    1) 4-4-1-1 (A "flick-on" formation thats awful to watch and offers next to nothing)

    2) Stevenson. A player that actually has some pace and wants to drive forward being played at right back????

    3) Zoubir. A player thats caused havock down the wing for other clubs, not being played as a winger??? Instead, we prefer to play Craig there?

    4) McGivern. A player thats prone to switching off and losing track of his marker, as shown yet again.

    5) Taiwo. What does he offer us exactly? Another Brian Kerr.

    6) Collins (Money wasted on nothing)

    7) Vine (As clumbsy as he looks)

My point is we don't have a good squad as some believe, I'm not defending fenlon or his coaching. we have a squad of players who have shown they struggle with basics and IMO aren't good enough whoever comes in now has as big a job on their hands as fenlon did coming in after calderwood

On way back from the game. Thought we played OK. Can the idiots booing Vine coming onto the pitch avoid Hibs games in future? Pathetic "support" of a Hibs player. If you need something to do at the weekend and enjoy booing Hibs players **** off to tynecastle.

Because Craig, Robertson etc are actually capable of creating something decent in the final 3rd, whereas Stevenson never is and never will be a creative midfielder. And using him as such is a waste of a jersey.

Fair enough Matty, all about opinions I suppose.

On paper we appear to have as good a squad as most but agree we do struggle with the basics.

Can't agree with your assessment on the new managers task though, think we're in a far better place now.

He created as much as either of the two you mention. There is more to playing midfield that just being creative. It's a fine balance. Maybe the gaffer sees his defensive side as just as important to a 4 1/4 or 5 man midfield. Only my opinion mind.

He created absolutely nothing! Craig had a couple of decent efforts which were saved and played Heffernan through for the red card. Robertson looked a lot more dangerous today, drove at defenders and almost scored a fantastic solo goal. I'm aware there's more to being a midfielder than being creative, but when you're playing left wing, you've got a responsibility to create things, take on your man and put in some decent crosses. If Stevenson was playing in Thomson's role perhaps I would be a bit more lenient, but we need more from our wide men than what Stevenson can offer us.

    I disagree.

Stevenson has more pace in 1 of his toes than Liam Craig does. He's the type of player that tries desperately to make something happen. But it's easy to run out of steam when you're constantly forced to run the full length of the pitch to try and get something going.

Craig is all about half hearted lumps into the box from poor angles.

    Heading back from the game.

Thought Hibs played okay, didn't take any of our chances. Robertson and Thomson were superb.

Sutton bullied our two centre halves and as for the goal they were always looking to hit McManus.

    Met John brownlie. Lovely man

Stevenson is a great utility player to have in the squad. Always gives 100%. However when he is getting a regular game you know there is a problem with the quality of the team. His crossing was woeful and while he's not the slowest, either Harris when fit or a new signing on the left should take that position.

Better than either the Aberdeen or Hertz game but a long way to go.

Opinions will always differ thats what makes good debates. My comment re armchair fans was not directed at you and i apologise if you thought it was, I just replied on your post about Stevenson, who I thought had a decent game today.

I would be first to moan about Stevenson if had a poor game, but i get sick how he just appears to be the default choice by a lot of fans when things go wrong!

You quite happy for Stevenson to play at left wing for the rest of the season then yeah? Who do you reckon would create more in that position? Liam or Lewis?

And there's the old "He tries" chestnut again. He looks absolutely lost when trying to make something happen. As I said, back up LB. That's all.
