Looks like Hearts are trying to keep Danny Wilson.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...ny-Wilson.html

Troubled Hearts launch 11th-hour bid to keep defender Wilson

Hearts' administrators BDO were attempting to secure a shock deal which would see Danny Wilson continue to play for the club next term.

Wilson spent the second half of last term on loan at Tynecastle from Liverpool but a pre-contract deal to sign the defender for a further three years had to be scrapped when the Gorgie outfit was plunged into administration earlier this month.

Following the insolvency event, the club are subject to a transfer embargo but Wilson is still technically a Hearts player until his registration runs out at midnight on Sunday.

The release of John Sutton, who opted to leave the club for Motherwell rather than take a wage cut, has freed up room in BDO's budget and they were in talks on Saturday with the SPFL and SFA to secure what would effectively be a contract extension with Wilson.
The move is sure to be controversial given the severe cost-cutting by BDO at Tynecastle, which has included the redundancies of 14 non-playing staff.

However, the 21-year-old enjoyed his brief spell at Hearts last term and is understood to be willing to stay on significantly reduced terms from the deal struck with the previous regime.

Wilson, who switched to Anfield from Rangers in a £3million transfer in 2010, views his next move as a purely footballing decision and, despite Hearts being hit with a 15-point penalty and facing a fight against relegation, is willing to start again in Edinburgh.

How can they have any sort of budget? Any cash they have should be sent to the companies to which they owe money too.

Not to mention to mention the existing staff and players as well as the 14 admin staff who will be owed cash.

    Story must be absolute rubbish.

I realise the lad is a decent enough player for his age but, did Liverpool REALLY pay 3M quid for him?

If so, the only thing that proves is that English clubs have far too much money.

  5. #23044
Abysmal if this is allowed to happen. If i had friends or family at Hearts who had just been made redunant i'd be livid. Why do this club and their associates constantly bring shame apon themselves? Staggering thing to even contemplate in the circumstances

Hearts have a registration embargo and are still able to register players. Seems fair.

If I was one of the hertz players who agreed a wage cut to help the club out then heard this news I'd be raging

Fair on the basis that Wilson is already registered with them.

I'm sure the 14 people made redundant already are delighted!!

He's bang average, their own fans weren't convinced about him last year. With Webster and Zal away hearts will be very pish at the back trust me.

Not bothered about hearts getting a decent defender. Just the fact that they are supposed to have a transfer embargo is sickening

I think it's because the contract was signed pre admin. That's why the yams have been allowed to keep him. Could be wrong but that's the only way I can see it mate.

    Also on their official site.

    http://www.heartsfc.co.uk/articles/2...241384_3223983

I am sure this could be revised tomorrow, after the "Rally" fails to attract the required response.
Totally unbelievable if allowed to happen. I suppose the other side of it is that it's another wage that won't get paid fully / on time for another **** player, reducing their income.

Even if they make the start of the new season we'll still put double digits past them and it'll be with one more wage for them to pay.

  18. #23057
They're obviously going to try and make a quick buck and punt him on and he gets a chunk of the sell on fee.

Wilson was average at best last year playing in a more experienced team THAT FINISHED 10th!!!

He's no superstar and the remains of their squad remain threadbare with absolutely no cutting edge up front at all.

Chill out sports fans and let them worry about next season

Ah I've just realised how they've got round it then. He wasnt anything special last season but I suppose he'll be better than the other Mcgowan brother.

Unless we get 2 new descent strikers in we will be lucky to put one past them. Still think we'll beat them but I can see another 2-1 or 1-0.

If Wilson signs for them then is a bigger fool than Stevenson. But cant see how this will be allowed. I don't really rate him but he did play well enough for the Rangers in the CL and Liverpool paid £3m for him. I can only think that the Yams think if he plays well they can sell him on with him getting a slice of it. But how can this be allowed?

    Yams website confirms.

The Scotland international's contract with the Anfield outfit expires today (Sunday, June 30) but he will keep featuring in maroon after the SPFL confirmed that his registration will continue.
Although the current administration which the club is subject to has meant an embargo on new player registrations, as the 21-year-old is already registered with the club there is no restriction on his move from Liverpool to Hearts.

Hopefully the SFA considers this exploiting of a loophole when it comes to issuing their sanction for Hearts entering administration. A season long embargo sounds fair to me, perhaps with a fine as well. I won't hold my breath.

Does the 3000 target matter any more the administrators have given a deadline of the 12th July to bid for them?
Every day is the 12th of July down Tynie way.

They'll struggle to even sell him on to anyone, he's clearly not had any other offers from elsewhere so has had no choice but to sign for them on a reduced wage!

Anyone who is interested will surely just wait till they go 'pop' and come take him for zilch.

I'm going against the grain here but...

They haven't broken any of the player registration rules so there can't be a complaint from that point of view. Also, as Sutton refused a contract and left, I expect the wages freed up by him leaving are paying for Wilson.

I personally don't see what the problem is. They're in desperate need of practically a whole team and this week have replaced one player with another. It's not exactly going to make them unbeatable.

Sutton refused a wage reduction and was made redundant. He didn't refuse a new contract and just left!

Surely a loan registration is different to a player that is owned?
