Nacho Novo is out of contract august 16th, 33yrs old, would be worth a one year deal. Thoughts.

It wouldn't be pre season if there wasn't a Nacho Novo to Hibs mention. Aaaaah, i feel much better!

Horrible individual. The stuff he was tweeting last week was disgusting.

It has been rumored that Mrs. McPake wants to come back to Scotland. If that is true, then the number of clubs who can match James' reported £3K a week demands amounts to not that many.
His agent: one baked, edible, and commonly flour-based food-product, has our club by the cojones, because he knows that the one player who we'd like to see to return to ER after last season's shambles is James McPake.
I would suggest that only Celtic, Hearts, Aberdeen and ourselves could afford him. Celtic could afford to take a chance on him, if they were so minded; but I doubt they are. The others may baulk at paying that kind of money for a player who has a reputation for being injury prone.
Would Hearts or Aberdeen fans be up in arms if they didn't get him? No: but Hibs fans would and that is something that both Petrie and Preston will be very aware of.
I would rule out the sheep. They ARE in financial doo doo & have sold very few season tickets. It appears their Board are still fence sitting re newco.

I just have a funny feeling that the home strip will be launched this week with McPake modelling it. Anyone else think this?

With the NewCo stuff in full flow I doubt many clubs will be putting pen to parper to long or expensive contracts, especially with season ticket sales in the balance. Financial projections won't be easy for most chairmen.

I think Hibs are in the best position to sign him, if they can risk the money, but can they is the question?

Yes you heard correct. Spaniard Novo, who made his cash in Scotland, screwed the British taxpayers and then found employment in Poland, telling people to 'go home'.
Not a mensa candidate i'd wager.

What's the latest with Griffiths?! He was wandering about Bonnyrigg the day which I thought was a bit random. Unless he is house hunting?! Sproule and O'Hanlon live out here already.

This pervasive influence is why we need to ensure they receive the maximum punishment permissable.

New one year deal for Scott Smith. Big year ahead for a very promising player.

Also notice as an aside, that Fife is officially away. He's joined some property group.

Great news. I thought he has been excellent in the games he has played for us.
When I first saw him I was worried that Calum Booth would keep him out of the team but that doesn't seem to be the case now.

Would imagine this is a big season for the guy, really hope he can establish himself in the first team squad if not the team itself as we could do with a decent left back.

Not sure if true but an hour or two ago someone tweeted that Jonny Hayes would be joining Aberdeen tomorrow after passing a medical. Wonder which farm it was held at?

Good news - not heard a bad thing about him.

Scott Smith played very well at left back when I've seen him. I actually thought he was better than Booth and Kujabi.

Played centre-half in the double-winning u-19 team, but I always thought he was a wee bit too small to prosper in that position at senior level. Definitely more of a defender than Booth, but I still think Callum will come good in the end. Might signify that Kujabi isn't for sticking around.

I think callum still has a future at us because all the deadwood got released. So here's hoping a good pre season we will see him back maybe even at left mid with smith behind him at left back
