    Euro Car Park tickets

my dad recieved a parking ticket from them for being over 2 hours in a supermarket car park

are these tickets legal? done a search and seems if you ignore them you will be fine (pun not intended )

anyone had a personal experience with them? what did you do?

    Cheers

My understanding is that they're not enforcable unless they can prove the owner of the vehicle was responsible for the ticket. They are enforcable but different to a ticket issued by a "traffic warden". It's all about the contract, which was agreed and entered into when the car was parked but they don't know who the driver was and can't prove who the contract was between.

We were just talking about them today. The asda in Livi is apparently getting number plate scannery things and if you stay more than 3 hours you will get a ticket.

Sorry I cant answer your query but am interested in the answers too.

No personal experience but did a bit of research a wee while ago. Just ignore it, it is not legally enforceable.
Do not even get into correspondence or phone calls and ignore the letters however many you get or what they say.

    My tuppence worth...

I received a ticket from Town & City Parking. I ignored it until it went up to £50. I sent them a complaint saying I wasn't aware I couldn't park there (a lie) and that I would be willing to pay the initial £20 fee. I received a letter saying they were willing to accept this. I questioned the legality of the fine in my letter.

However, prior to this I did some reading up on the legality and whilst they are not legally enforceable the DVLA are caught between a rock and a hard place. These companies are trying to maintain parking availability for their customers and the DVLA will provide your details to the company.

The company can pursue you for the money and pass the debt to debt collectors. Depending on the amount I'd be inclined to pay it, if it's £70 like it is normally for car parks I'd tell them to GTF.

Here is some further information you should have a read of:

Companies like Euro Car parks are private companies and cant force you to pay the fine. But if you get a ticket in a car park that is owned by the government or local council then they can force you to pay up.
