Nile Rogers & Chic best of the weekend
Really enjoyed them, and although I never really fancied them through the years, I thought Pulp were excellent.

Give brandi carlile a listen tomorrow. She rocked the Glasgow concert hall last night.
Thanks for the recommendation, she was great and I will be listening to her a lot this week! I actually knew a couple of her songs but had never heard of her.

80 year old, looking every minute of it and sounding even worse, Rod Stewart parading around with his celtic drum.

    Chronic.

You know what, I never really gave him the time of day when I was growing up but my mum's always been big Rod Stewart fan so when we were round at my folks' earlier we sat through the whole set and he definitely won me over (and made me forget I was being subjected to Glastonbury!).

You forget what a helluva back catalogue these old legends have to draw on and I thought he navigated his way round the fact his voice ain't what it once was. Having a really great band behind him was key. He actually sounded better the longer the show went on and he clearly keeps himself in shape to be able to move around so constantly - whereas an old school crooner like Tony Bennett had the advantage of just being able to stand there and look cool. Thought Ronnie Wood and Lulu really helped to make the night and I didn't actually mind the Celtic love-in at the end too much.

He was a poser communist while it was trendy in the mid 60s. Supported Powell, Thatcher, Boris Johnson and now Farage.

Some people can change over time. Rod, a disgrace to his father's memory btw, apparently isn't one of them.

Seriously? How come? I'd have imagined his dad would have been pretty proud of him. Or was he a Rangers fan?

On this thread, I'm going to take a bit of a guess, nobody here cares what you think. OK?

I never knew that, thanks. I did once meet a relative of his (cousin I think) who runs or used to run a hotel in North Berwick but we didn't get on to any football chat.

Just did a bit of a search on this. Apparently Rod's brother is a hun and (allegedly) got a carving of Eric Caldow carved on to their dad's headstone. Bizarre story.

Also found this, which doesn't seem to indicate any animosity between him and his dad:

Incorrect. I just have a different opinion to you. That's not what trolling is.

Because he backed Powell more than half a century ago those views are somehow hard-wired into him for life? Plenty of people change as they get older.
We can only hope and pray. 🤣

Thanks. My wife has liked her music for a while but seeing her live converted me. An absolute powerhouse. Over 2 hours on stage at Glasgow. Obviously a very paired back set for Glastonbury.

The Maccabees closing out the Park Stage were absolutely brilliant. My standout performance of the weekend for sure, a proper headliner performance.
