Whats everyone's thoughts on this summer transfer window?
Considering the run we are on, do we need such a big clearout of players now?

Triantis will be a big loss to be replaced (Manneh might be the answer) and we will need 2 new forwards to replace Gayle and Myko. But I’m hopeful Rocky and Boyle will stay, meaning we are only going to be down Triantis from our recent starters. Exciting we do not need major surgery anyway.

Of those on loan, only Triantis is a big loss, and Myko arguably a small loss.
Very happy to see the back of the other two.
Gayle will Retire. Unsure if Holliett will or not.
Other than these I don’t think we need to see anybody leaving.

I'd like a keeper.
Probably a striker.
Maybe a full back.
Depending what we lose, replacements.

Still potentially a lot to do
Rocky
Triantis
Are the two obvious ones, Boyle and Miller also out of contract but we’ve got options of a further year so you’d imagine we’d extend them.
Youan and Vente will be off. You’d like to think that will give us a fair amount of money (mainly from Vente).
Decisions on Gayle and Hoilett to be made too, I’d imagine Hoilett is more likely than Dwight.
McGrath set to come in is a huge plus. Hopefully we can get another couple of out of contract players like Mulligan in too.
Then there’s the keeepr situation, but sounds likely it will be Bursik returning and Paulson in on loan.

Keep as many of the current team as possible. Signing Rocky and Boyle priorities. All replacements should be equal to or better than what we have.
Priority 2-A keeper to provide squad depth.
Priority 3-Another midfielder. Assuming we don’t retain Triantis.
Priority 4-A Gayle replacement.

IMO summer will take care of itself. We've a huge opportunity and 5 big games to get through, with a prize that none of could have imagined a few months ago. These current players - who are giving their all for the club - deserve our full support. If Hibs can grab 3rd place, it would be a financial game changer.

There’s still a risk that players like C Cadden, Rocky, Miller, Campbell, Levitt etc will regress and revert to how they have been in previous seasons. That the examples of Aberdeen under Robson, and Hearts under Naismith, and with Europe to contend with , show it can all fall apart very quickly and Gray would be bucking the trend to follow up this season with another good season.
However, all signs point towards Gray knowing what he’s doing and understanding what is required for this league, pace, athleticism and running power. As well as being able to set up a practical and functional team suited to this league. I’d only actively look to move on the loans (Triantis aside), Youan and those out on loan, including Vente. Miller & Rocky have done enough to convince in this formation IMO.
My two priorities would be Triantis, or a replacement, and an upgrade on C Cadden. Someone with an end product more like his brother.

It really depends on Europe, if we know we will be playing group stage football we will need more players in...but we'll also have the guaranteed income needed to sign them.

This team is very easy to like and there are huge parts of it whose futures for next season remain uncertain. Miller, Rocky, Triantis and Boyle will take an awful lot of replacing, if they leave.
Instead of embracing the rebuild and looking forward to ridding ourselves of a bunch of duds, I’m now dreading the breaking up of a hugely likeable and incredibly hard working team.
I hope we find a way to keep as many as possible.

Miller has been playing very well at centre back, as has Rocky, would be happy to see both stay, as well as Boyle. Of the loanees, Triantis is someone we should pursue as far as we sensibly can. I’m confident we can find a replacement for myko who will contribute more and cost less, with Bowie and Boyle as the (at the moment) nominal starters.
From looking like we will be having a massive clear out and similar numbers needing to come in, it now looks like we may be able to be quite targeted about who comes in. With some decent fees to come for Vente and youann hopefully, as well as European football, we may have a few bob to play with to enhance the squad. McGrath and Manneh already here/confirmed, can’t wait

I think we are coming into a good era. It's pleasing to see that even on this run, there are guys such as Levitt and Bowie stepping up. Big Marv will be looking for his chance to come back and impress. There is no safe spot in the team as there's a hunger for players not involved. This is why we are seeing the best versions of Cadden, Miller, Rocky and Co.
Smith deserves a lot of praise. He's been unsung and crucial in keeping the defensive side organised during this run.

Will be an interesting transfer window, particularly if we have guaranteed European football until Christmas.
Aberdeen and the Yam have not made a very good fist of getting the balance right in dealing with European/domestic football when they had the opportunity.
I am by no means saying we have nailed third and that Celtic will win the Scottish cup, but the guys at Hibs surely must be planning for the best case scenario.
Clearly we want to keep Bushiri, Boyle and somehow Triantis. These will be the priorities. It's doubtful if we can.
It would be useful to sweep up a few of the best Scottish talent outwith the OF. The Yam tried this method but didn't choose very well (Dhanda & Spittal). There are a few players at St Mirren & Dundee/English lower leagues who might be worth a look to enable us to cope with domestic football. This should be possible as Mackay has been astute in picking up the odd gem, Iredale being the prime example.
But if we want to make a mark in Europe and get to the knock out stages (finish in the top 16 out of 24) some serious investment will have to be made. This is where our link with Black Knights & Bezbatchenko could be crucial.
Will be a lot going on, but exciting times could be afoot.Last edited by Hibees1973; 13-04-2025 at 05:57 PM.

Three priorities for me. For the midfield I'd like us to sign Triantis as he has been so important to our fortunes this season. He strolled the game today. If we can get Rocky signed up then the defence looks in good shape. In the forward area assuming Myko and Gayle leave then we need to sign another forward of similar calibre to Bowie and also an experienced forward. Gayle is such a clever player, I love watching him and will be disappointed if he goes.

I hope if we get guaranteed group stages we do everything we can to get Triantis back. He’s vital to the way we play. Was class again today. The way he uses his body to ghost by players is a joy to watch.
Something to remember is Sunderland signed him as a CB. Just think it has Will Fish vibes and he’ll want another challenge after 18 months on loan here.

I can't see Gayle playing past this season, and I can't see us getting Triantis again.
I'm so hopefully that we do re-sign Bushiri, Boyle and Miller otherwise summer becomes a lot more work.
Can't see Myko returning, so we're definitely light up front, and another keeper is a, must but it sounds like Paulson may be on his way.
We've got Manneh and we have Mcgrath to come in so hopefully we're in a good place. Obviously there's always room for additional quality.

Not sure he is any better than what we have though.

Although I did say today, for Rocky probably more, getting into group stages may be a huge attraction to stay for another year.

Think mulligan always looks better as a right wing back.
Really strong runner, good dribbler and loads of energy
Think in the middle he’s nowhere near as consistent

We need to sign Gogic and Olusanya now.

Is he out of contact at the end of the season and if so I'm assuming there would be a decent amount of compensation due to Dundee.

GK
CM
ST
Would be my top 3 positions to get someone in.
Gayle and Myko probably won't be back next season, no one knows Boyles plans yet also.
I think Triantis would come back to us, would just be a case of how much Sunderland would want, no doubt other teams have been keeping an eye on him though.
Smith has been great for us, we do need another GK in though.
Need to see if Miller and Rocky are staying, two I think would stay if both parties are interested so if they leave that would be another 2 positions needed.
Rudi still has time to make it, wouldn't be surprised to see a loan deal to a lower prem team or a higher championship, we do have McGrath coming in and Campbell.

Hoilett wants to play at the 2026 World Cup and might think it's best to stay at a team he knows if he is settled in Edinburgh. He's been excellent these past few weeks and, if he's not on silly money, then keeping him seems a smart decision.
McGrath will be on a big wage though and the club may see him as a better bet long term, even if he is a different kind of player.
Rocky and Triantis may think they need a step up on their football journey, but European football could swing things in our favour.
If Rocky goes, we have Ekpiteta and O'Hora, who could be handy replacements.
The NZ keeper, a striker to replace Gayle & Myko - if Boyle stays - and competition for C Cadden on the right...
