Wow. Even though I can’t claim to know any of those courses very well.. sounds absolutely awesome, and I’m currently calling you all sorts out of jealousy.

I thoroughly enjoyed Archerfield yesterday although I shudder to think what I actually scored. I seem to spend half the round splashing out from bunkers and the other half looking for lost balls in the tiger rough.

Its a fantastic place to play golf and you feel totally divorced from the outside world for a few hours at least. If ever I have a spare few million quid to play with then I may contemplate membership.

Got to play it earlier this year. Good course, very serene and peaceful which is ideal.

It is but I'm sure they ran a debenture scheme which was an eye watering sum when it opened

I’m off to Castle Stuart on Saturday. ( I actually thought we were away to St Johnstone on Saturday.). Anyhoo it’s a decent substitution for my seat at ER.

Love Castle Stuart. Once had 48 points stableford there. Have never played that well before or since.

Just having a look at the courses I've played this year, some list. Have Turnberry & Muirfield next May to look forward to also, and hoping to get some more of the 'top 100' ticked off.

    The notables
    The Old Course
    Archefield x 2
    Gullane 2/3
    Monktonhall
    Leven Links
    Monifeith
    Blairgowrie x 2
    Moray x 2
    Fraserburgh
    Goswick

Kingsbarns, Gullane 1, Nairn and Brora all booked in for October (expensive month )

Quite the list. I’ve got Castle Stuart, Dundonald, Bruntsfield and Renaissance all in the next week or so.

I've heard good things about Castle Stuart, and was tempted to book for this weekend but I'm not sure my bank account will allow it.

How do people get on Renaissance? I know they do the SG thing in winter but I've not seen anything about that this year?

Castle Stuart is a nice piece of golfing territory. I got it on the perfect day. Have to say its greens are its protection. Some lovely holes. They’re building a new course round the other side of the bay that you can see from the 4th. Looks like it’ll be a favourite weekend resort for the rich folks.

Played The Machrie on Islay today. Weather good but very strong wind, and it was apparently blowing in an unusual direction, meant that it was a cross wind on a lot of the holes.

A superb course, well worthy of the acclaim it gets.

    Yesterday was a bad day.

My faithful Ping G400 driver which I've had for 6 years literally came apart at the seams when the head came away from the shaft , thankfully nobody in the vicinity was injured. And before anyone asks - a temper tantrum was not involved!

I've been told that it can be glued back together again but somehow or other I have doubts if it will perform as well as it has for me over the last six years.
