Thread: Joe Newell

    Joe Newell

Glad to see him come on and get some momentum going after half time today. He's such an important player for us now. His driving run early on got the crowd excited after what had felt like a preseason friendly in the first half due to the stadium being half empty and the game played at 3/4 pace.

He actively brought Elie more into the game and the consequences of that was two goals.

    Joe, Joe, Super Joe indeed!

I hope he can contain his enthusiasm just a bit on Wednesday- don't want any sending offs 👀🤭

I thought in the second half of last season that Newell was adding more to his game and becoming a more all round midfielder, if truth be told we have looked light weight in that department since McGinn left, what a time for Joe Newell to come good, Newell is the man that makes us tick in the middle of the park.

His positive mind set changed the way the game went, we were slow and ponderous and he took the game by the scruff of the neck, that's exactly what we want to see and not just from Newell but all the players.

    He's our main man.

Changed the game when he came on today.

It’s clear to see, for the doubters now. He’s our engine.

I hope folk don't turn on him if he has a bit of a dip. He's carrying the midfield atm.

I've always said he's terrific when he drives forward like he's done recently, there is none better.

It's when he sits 5 yards in front of Paul Hanlon passing the ball sideways and backwards that gets on my thruppnies.

He has to be that player that drives us forward, we have a number of players who can do the other stuff.

He's been brilliant taking the team forward and grabbing the games by the scruff of it's neck, please keep him in this further forward system LJ.

    Was class yesterday

When he is on it he is on it

More of the same on Wednesday Joe

We need all the quality in midfield we can get

He grew up a big Birmingham City fan, I am led to believe, so a tie vs Villa, couldn't be any more of a motivation I guess.

Good to see Joe stepping up & have a feeling he'll do more than ok in the 2 euro games

Hopefully not too motivated to do anything rash and get sent off

Not worried about him being sent off but worried about putting himself in the shop window. He's the best footballer at Hibs and could play in the Championship in England.
