seems tonights meeting at Shielfield against Isle of Wight was abandoned after two riders bikes became locked together and went straight throught he fence and into the crowd standing on the first corner.
One rider ended up in 'no-mans land' between the fences and the other at the back wall of the stadium(Scott Smith and Paul Fry for those who know the sport)
Ambulances rushed to the track and it appears two spectators were taken to hospital - one with a broken collarbone - the other with head injuries, both struck by the flying bikes. Both taken to the ambulances on spinal boards.
Meeting abandoned after a lengthy delay as the Local Authority took charge of proceedings and the police accident investigation team are there measuring and photographing the carnage.
Hope the two fans are Ok - sounds a bit ominous if the measuring tapes are out.

Sounds pretty bad.
I was at a meeting at Armadale when a Monarch's rider (cannae remember his name, must have been around 1997) crashed his bike at the first bend and went over the hoardings at the back, ended up in a wheelchair, never to walk again.
Edit: Quick check on Google, it was Neil Hewitt.Last edited by AFKA5814_Hibs; 10-05-2008 at 10:03 PM.

Thankfully everyone involved appears to be on the mend.
