Joe Newell - A great human!

Just found out through a friend that works at Edinburghs Children's Hospital, that our very own Joe Newell is a WEEKLY volunteer worker there and 'is an absolute gentleman and great human being'.

Appartently today was not his volunteer day but a Hibs daft kid had a major surgery this morning and Joe made sure he was there when he woke up and gave him a signed top. The kid was over the moon with excitement and the parents couldn't stop crying.

Love hearing things like this so thought I'd pass it on.

    He really is.

Top lad off the pitch and a top player on it.

People tell me he’s not a leader, this sort of behaviour emphasises that he is.

He leads by example and is well respected and liked by everyone.

Blows my mind the stick the gets on here.

Same. I agree completely. We need people like Joe Newell at the club. Captaincy for next season 🤞

Add this to the 'things that make you proud about Hibs thread'.

Sure such things aren't exclusive to us, but Hibs mean an awful lot to some people.

That was so good to read. Wonderful thing to do, especially for youngsters in hospital. The fact that he's doing out of the public gaze, makes it all the more commendable.
    Well done Joe.

Well done Joe, that's great to hear, and to echo The Harp doing it quietly with no fanfare really shows the mark of the man

For those I know that have spent some time chatting with him and the LongbNgers podcast episode - he has a deep feeling for the club and cares. A wee bit of a confidence player perhaps I’m getting the sense.

That’s the problem with him though, can he turn up and do the exact same next week? 😉

That's fantastic. No fanfare, no fuss just quietly doing something that makes a difference.

He's a really nice guy so I'm not surprised by this at all.

Agree a million percent. He's a well respected figure at the club and hearing stories like this reaffirm my love and respect for the guy.

Always happy to debate/disagree with people on his ability as he does split opinion which I understand, but when I hear people critique him as a person/leader etc I just can't get on board whatsoever and I think it's bordering on lazy criticism.

A bit more credit in the bank from me for the man.

Well done Joe. Doing it without fanfare and for the right reasons.

I'm sure I saw him walking a dog through Newcraighall about a week ago but I always find it a bit strange seeing a footballer out of context, ie no strip on.

Someone else will say, no, he lives in Ullapool lol

He doesn't shout and scream enough apparently.

Seems like a top bloke and amongst the absolute least of our problems on the pitch as well, though there's always room for improvement on the consistency front.

Sure it was Wallyford when he was reported for drink driving. He has a dug called Jude after Bellingham
