I'd take him back too just to have a player that had a bit of spark. Boyler used to have it too but that is long gone. I always thought JC was underrated by supporters. He was more than just a goal scorer and could pass and involve other well too.
I’ve kept tabs on Jason since he first came to Oz.

He’s not as prolific in India as he was with the Mariners, and now usually starts on the bench, as he did in the game that won Mohun Bagan the championship the other day.

    Highlights are on YouTube.

Scored a good goal though to put them 2-0 up,,,,with his RIGHT foot!

Think there might have been an inkling of him getting punted, but that goal should ensure he gets to finish his 2 year contract…where he is rumoured to be the highest earning player in India.

Some revisionism going on here. Most people were of the opinion it was a great bit of business to get a transfer fee for him when he left. He's certainly in the form of his life but Dylan Vente will prove himself to be a much better player with a similar work ethic in my opinion.
Any time Vente wants to start doing that, that would be great.

I always liked him: fast and direct, he made things happen. He’s having a superb season up at County.

Simon Murray has scored 4 league goals since the middle of March.

Dylan Vente has scored 4 league goals this season.

My issue with Vente is he never looks like scoring or doing something. ALF showed against Livi what a striker should be doing to those sort of teams

Yep. He's been a major disappointment. ALF is a far better player.

No, we've been crying out for good footballers.
    Aren’t both mutually exclusive?

Reading on here, it seems that players cannot improve with age?
Murray looks a different player than he was with us.
Take two examples: Paul Hartley with us, then with Hearts!
Jason Cummings with Hearts, then us.
Players can sometimes just fit better to one team than another!!!

Murray could be a decent addition to our squad - at the right price.

The right price would have to be - free

Who scouted and signed Vente? Another in a long list of poor signings. Murray is a much better player, scores, assists and bosses defenders.

    I disagree.

2 seasons on the bounce Vente scored a ton of goals in the Dutch second tier. He’s a goalscorer. Create chances for him and he’ll score.

Vente has struggled in our system, but to say Simon Murray is a better player is nonsense.

He’s had a more effective season though.

    Bosses defenders

He's a decent player. He's not ****ing Pele. Not much between him and Vente really.

Hes not proven he can score a ton of goals here. The "create chances for him and he'll score" just an excuse, hes had chances and could make his own chances

Bosses defenders is a bit strong but he has a very high nuisance factor and looks like he'd be more of a nightmare to play against than your average Ross County striker.

Neither had Shankland when he left Dundee Utd after his first season in the SPL.

He got 9 in 38 that season. Vente has 7 in 32 this season.

I’m not implying they’re similar players, but I am saying the way you set up a team absolutely has an effect on how many goals a striker will likely get.

I'm sure he will once he's playing in a system where players are creating chances for him rather than him spending a lot of time chasing back in his own half to recover the ball. I don't recall him missing the target with too many chances

Murray would be a good addition

So is he signing or not?

It would point to the Scottish Premier being significantly stronger than the Dutch second tier, which I am surprised at TBH.

Glad you find it funny. I was implying that he's very physical and often gets the better of defenders. He's had a better season than Vente thats for sure and didn't cost £750k. Vente has scored about 4 goals including a penalty which is a poor return.

Maybe a big part of it was down to his previous club creating more chances for him to score as well.

Possibly, but a great goalscorer will make the most of limited chances.

Shankland as an example, id be surprised if Hearts created significantly more chances than us.

Yeah I suppose great strikers do though for awhile I didn't think we were actually playing him as a striker

I don't know if hertz do create more chances than us though there was quite a few games this year where we were only averaging 2 or 3 shots on target in games and sometimes less so I don't think we were actually creating many at one point though might be wrong on that .

I see Vente very much as a poacher/ fox in the box kind of striker , get him in the box and provide decent service and I'm convinced the guy would score us goals though .

Feel for Vente, he’s been written off by loads in our support as he’s been played out of position.

A better manager would get more out of pretty much every player in our squad.

Simon Murray is the sort of signing Hibs used to make He is lively robust knows the league and the type of football needed gets stuck into defences scores goals and why not welcome back the prodigal son with open arms but at 32 and we are now hopefully shopping at Harrods not Dingwall so it’s a no from me but I like him always have

Vente 24 I am not so sure quietly I have been thinking he is a bit of a dud but willing to be swayed otherwise if we can sign a Pep type Manager who can transform him into the prolific goal scorer we all thought we were getting

File beside Marcondes under ‘ Unconvinced ‘

He hasn't been played out of position. He's been played as a striker every time I've seen him. Any good level of football requires the striker to run channels, hold it up and track back, usually into midfield. He has been found wanting when the ball has been played up to him. You only need to look at Le Fondre to see. He offers more threat, better hold up play, link up play and scores more goals. He creates his own chances and chances for others.

He was starting to look quite lively prior to his injury too, which came at a bad time just as he was building up a bit of momentum.
