    Edinburgh Airport

    Something going on.

Got planes flying over my house which never happens, noticed on flight radar it was the same two 4 times ( so far), a quick look further south and there's 4 or 5 aircraft circling in a holding pattern.... anyone 'in the know'

(Dot net hive mind always a good shout!)

Looks like the Easyjet one is diverting to Glasgow and the wee Logan air thing is head towards Dundee :-/

Hi, arrivals and departures are currently suspended for a short period while our teams carry out emergency repairs on our airfield. Safety is our priority and we thank you for your patience. -MC

There was a pot hole on the runway yesterday that needed fixed, runway was closed for an hour, maybe the council boys did it and like their road repairs it needs done 24 hours later!!

Just the council putting in traffic calming measures

Parts of the runway are or were a mess with patches everywhere. A few years ago we were due to fly to Tenerife but they had to carry out emergency repairs and we were coached through to Glasgow airport, bit of a pain in the arse but worse for those who drove or got a bus from Glasgow for the flight only to head back through

I was on one of the inbound flights affected. Did a couple of laps above helensburgh and then another couple of circles over Peebles / Gala. A pain in the erse after delays departing to start with but one of those things.

Am I right in thinking that there is only one runway at Edinburgh now?

I know there used to be 2 but I have a memory that one was closed a few years back and may well be a car park now.

Just the one (as the pilot never tired of telling us as we flew around and around...)

The crosswind runway (if that's the right term) closed a few years ago after rarely being used.
It was initially used to store new cars but I think it's scoped to be part of this new Edinburgh West development.

You got off lucky. A mate of mines flying back today, circled Edinburgh for an hour, then landed at Prestwick where they had to sit on the plane on the tarmac for over 4 hours. Then they got off and got a train home after the coach that was sent through wasn’t big enough for all passengers!

There was a 'very loose bowels incident' reported in the news over in the US that caused a flight diversion the other week... you just never know! Lol
