Wasn’t ‘Big Train’ a sketch show? I remember it being on TV around the same time as the office.
Yeah fair cop. It had some recurring characters but it wasn't a sitcom.

I'm not a great fan of the movies tbh. The original series was just so good, so original, I loved it. The movies were OK, just nothing compared to the C4 series.
Movies are never as good when they do them based on a series. But that dancing scene in the club is one of the funniest things I've seen in a cinema.

Friends is the quintessential sitcom for me. I can watch a few episodes every night and when finished just start it from the beginning again. I know all the lines but they still make me laugh every time.

Trying to avoid ones already mentioned... Modern Family and How I Met your mother from America. There's a lot of good British stuff too, I don't think I've seen Cuckoo or Not Going Out mentioned yet which are 2 I've enjoyed.

Forgot about this. Loved the TV series, both films were really shan though.
I enjoyed the films. The way they’d all been chucked by their summer flings by the time the second movie started was hilarious.

Always Sunny, Curb, and The Office (the American one) are the 3 I watch over and over again.

    Honourable mentions for

    The IT Crowd
    Nathan Barley
    Garth Merenghis Darkplace
    Peep Show

Nathan Barley and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace are under appreciated classics. The broccoli episode of the latter is 30 minutes of comedy gold.

Can't believe nobody has suggested Mrs Brown's Boys and Miranda....

I used to work beside someone who actually thought both were hilarious. He was a strange sort who once boasted that he saved $20 by booking a room in Niagara that overlooked the car park rather than the falls.

I watched Mrs Browns Boys once and it helped me understand why we voted to leave the EU and Boris Johnson’s popularity.

I’ve not watched Friends in a long time, but seen the odd scene in passing. It surprised me that it appeared to have aged badly and was all a bit silly. To be fair the scenes mainly featured Joey. Loved it at the time, but maybe I’m just old and boring now.

My list has already been covered by most others (Frasier - my favourite, The Office (UK), Only Fools, Always Sunny, Seinfeld etc).

One not mentioned that I think has aged ok is The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air. Still quite funny and tackled series issues. They don’t make them like that anymore.

Miranda far worse for me. I genuinely had to leave the room when someone had it on in my presence as it was giving me a sore heid.

Think maybe the only thing worse than Miranda and MBB is Officer Karen in Scotsquad.

    Seinfeld.

    The Inbetweeners
Loved Seinfeld at the time. A number of episodes remain magnificent but I was actually quite surprised by how poorly some of it has dated. The last couple of seasons without Larry David really slide off a cliff. The quality he maintained throughout Curb Your Enthusiasm was impressive.

Completely forgot about blackadder on my list. Goes Fourth means it would get in my top 10. Without the 4th season maybe not.

The Larry Sanders Show. I have them all on dvd and watch occasionally to remind myself how shallow and desperate people in the public eye can be.

Whatever happened to the likely lads

the early seasons of new tricks had some very funny moments, albeit not a sitcom as such

    Love Brooklyn 99.

My ex-sister-in-law and her husband are doctors and they used to claim that Scrubs is the most realistic fictional medical TV show, more so than any drama.

Most of my favourites have been covered already, but I can’t recall anyone mentioning The Vicar of Dibley (then I notice it a little further up the page after I posted that).

Like it! Been a good few years since I seen that.

I’m going to have to go against the grain here and admit I really hated scrubs.
