    Any caravan owners ??

Long time camper ..all over UK and Europe .. we are now thinking of buying a caravan .. mainly for a bit more comfort ..even though we manage to glamour up our tent ..must be an age thing :)

Any experienced owners got any tips or Learning to share as we finalise our decision??

We bought a new caravan in 2018 and love it. We were also enthusiastic campers before our son came along. We've now had a few extended holidays in Northern and Southern Europe and love our wee home from home.

There's a couple of things we consider to be essential extras that make life that little bit better:

    1. A caravan mover. Our caravan is nearly 8m long and weighs 2000kg when fully loaded. I've got my HGV1 and can reverse with a trailer with the best of them, but having the mover just gives you that wee bit more flexibility, it allows you to turn the caravan 360° on the spot and enables you to get the caravan into nooks and crannies you normally wouldn't be able to.

    2. A good awning. We've got an inflatable one that basically builds itself once you've attached it to the air pump. The awning is important for longer stops because that's where you'll spend most of the time.

    3. Air-conditioning. If you plan on travelling to warmer climates then air-conditioning is a must because like tents, caravans can get very hot if they're directly in the sun.

    4. An air fryer. It basically lets you cook anything you would at home. You can also use it outside and avoid cooking odours in the caravan.

    5. An extended socket for a cordless drill. It just saves you winding the legs up and down manually.

We haven't regretted getting the caravan, we did consider a camper van but you just don't have the same flexibility as in the caravan. In the caravan, if you want to make a day trip into the city then you take the car, with a camper you have to pack everything away and then drive into town using a cumbersome vehicle. You also get more for your money with a caravan.

    Have fun.
