Does anyone know the terms of the repayments we are now due in the £2m investment loan taken out recently? I presume this was to cover the loss of the Boyle transfer fee.

I’d imagine the Boyle fee is written off against the fee we got for Doig.

Its disappointing to have gone from having no external debt to having almost £5m in loans between the Gov loan and this new one.

We will be fine, and do what we always do as the edinburgh team that meets its debts when due.

It's when you get enforced debt, like debt for equity chucked at you by a dictatorial owner you need to start worrying. Look how that worked out down Gorgie way, for example.

even with the government loan it was a no brainier to take (rather than us actually needing it) as I’m sure it was interest free so essentially free funding at no cost to repay just the capital, which doesn’t happen often when bringing in money to clubs.

Did Ron not pay off part/all of our existing debt when he took over from STF?
Can’t believe there’s still folk on here that don’t trust him and think he’s going to do us over.

There may be sticks to beat him with, but this entirely legal and transparent transaction isn't one of them.

It's entirely normal for businesses to take out loans to upgrade themselves in ways that will make more revenue.
Someone in charge of numbers will have projected what our income could be over the course of the next 9 years with this catering deal and upgraded hospitality and no doubt came to the conclusion that it would be profitable for the business still even with the loan repayments. I very much doubt we're just racking up a credit card debt on shopping sprees without plans.
