Wouldn’t surprise me if Socceroo coach Graham Arnold ended up at a club in Scotland.

Arnie has his detractors, but there is no doubt he galvanised a team of lesser known players into a formidable side in the World Cup finals.

He obviously has an appreciation of the value of the Scottish game, given the number of players in the squad with SPFL connections.
I might be totally making this up, but was he not linked with the Hibs job at some point? Rumoured to actually have spoken to us I think.

Has he managed at many clubs in the past ? Don't know much about him though seems a likeable character that the players respect.

Nearly all in The A League or with the national teams, but I think he did have a short stint in Japan too.

Thought Australia showed great fight and commitment against Argentina and that's got to go down to the manager. Think he's a good manager . Thanks for the run down on him btw 👍

He was. Well he spoke to the media saying he wanted the job (or his agent did, it made the evening news)

Before LJ was appointed, he was my left field choice. Was probably unrealistic with the World Cup coming up and probably less realistic now after his success in this World Cup but I think he would have been a good appointment. Knows Scottish football well as he spoke about it on a podcast I listened to.

They’re 5th in the league, they’ve not spent masses I don’t think have they? Doesn’t seem to be that bad a job he’s done?

The away support last night were making their feelings known. Seemed like he had lost the support.

Just dropped down and tbh he struggled last season even though they were going down, they should be in the top 2 with the players and money they have compared to others,12 pts off 2nd.

Just came on to this thread to post the same thing.

The fact we have a very losable derby coming up shortly in less than a week while Goodwin has a semi final at Hampden to look forward to at the end of the month tips the scale in LJs favour (to be sacked first) but looking at the Aberdeen fans reactions on twitter it’s anyone’s game right now.

I think he could just about survive a derby defeat. But a heavy derby defeat and he’s done IMO. I don’t think any manager could really complain about losing a job when the run is in to the territory that he’s in now.

I don’t think he gets sacked immediately if he loses the derby but he’s a dead man walking.

If we get pumped then you’re probably right.

Of course there’s still a chance we could win the derby, if he does that he’ll get the January transfer window to improve things.

Aberdeen have home matches v Ross County and St Johnstone before LC semi on 14th / 15th so if league results go badly for them , defeat in semi will put a lot of pressure on Goodwin . If we get rid of LJ in January , I hope we have a caretaker manager till summer and go for a special appointment for next season .

And then we give your special appointment 6 months to get it right which is what a lot of you have given Lee Johnson btw, some of you even want David Martindale as there special appointment I remember his style of football in our last game!!!

Was up late the other night and the Premiership Years was on Sky Sports, was season 1995-96. According to the narration, only one club sacked their manager in that whole season.

No, he's actually a decent manager, still young, who will get more out of those talented Portuguese players than Santos did.

In your opinion. In mine he had a fantastically talented Belgian team and under achieved with them, often whilst playing pretty stodgy football.

Interesting appointment wonder how he will do with the language though most Portuguese players will have very good English I assume. Wonder if Shaun will get a role there. Be interesting how they do with Ronald situation best for all concerned he retires internationally I would have thought. An amazingly talented squad he has.
