Isner has one freak of a serve ! It's actually better than it was 10 years ago !!
I can't possibly see how Andy wins this match , Unless Isner tires

Third seed Casper Ruud is out after losing in four sets to Ugo Humbert.
Highest seed to fall so far.
Ryan Peniston's dream is over after losing in straight sets to Steve Johnson.

Isners serve is scary.

I think Isner's style is pretty boring to watch but it's effective so far tonight. Murray's never lost to him (albeit they have never met on grass before and their last match was 6 years ago) so it will be interesting to see how he tries to break the serve down.

I cannot stress this enough, I absolutely love Andy Murray.
He wins the third set tiebreak.
Come on!

If, and it's a big if, Murray goes on to win this, there was a point in the 3rd set where he was 0-15 and should have lost the point. He managed to dig out a fantastic site on the run and won the point.
That for me was the turning point. Long way to go yet though!

Murray is a far superior tennis player but with Isner’s strength of serve and Andy’s declining years, his chances of winning are minimal.

Have to say tennis would be very dull if all players were like Isner. He is actually a pretty good tennis player but the majority of the game is just one serve and over.

Isner is like the Stoke City of tennis.

Isner wins 6-4 7-6 6-7 6-4
Murray didn't do an awful lot wrong tonight but Isner's serve was just far too good throughout.

Andrew Castle dear oh dear what an absolute clown. Loving it that Murray lost. Barely gave him any credit and absolutely very little context re his injury. Bizarre commentary imo

It’ll take Djokovic or Nadal at their best to beat the robotic serve of Isner. That was his first ever win against Murray and, without the adrenaline, I suppose there’s every chance he could go out and lose to a nondescript player in the next round. However, I think he will reach the semi-finals at least.

I don't think he'll retire yet, I think he genuinely enjoys competing, I think there's another couple of years left in him yet.
