    Paul Lambert?

    Hope not. Absolute yesterday's man.

That being said, I really don't see much in the way of inspiring appointments anywhere within Scotitsh football. Tam Courts is about the only one I would be happy to take from the premier league (being we obviously wouldn't get Postecoglou, GVB or Goodwin)

That's who I wanted when Maloney came in did a great job at Aberdeen imo however the label of industrial football not all of which is fair plus Aberdeen and Rangers links probably not going to help him. Watch highlights of the 2017 cup final where they went head to head with a very good Celtic side excellent aggressive attacking performance. Can't see him getting it now speaks well and is passionate
Good post. Good to see someone looking beyond appearances. McInnes's good record also goes back well beyond Aberdeen to his time at St Johnstone too. He had a poor spell at the end of his tenure at Aberdeen and it may have damaged him but he has far more going for him than not.

The other names mentioned - Mackay (decent last few months), Thomson (no real evidence), Lennon (three dreadful spells from which he couldn't recover at Bolton, Hibs and Celtic) just don't have the same track record and someone we could get.

It sounds like Maloney wasn't a yes man (which is maybe why he was booted) so I really hope our owner and CE show a bit humility and get someone in with real knowledge of Scottish football and proven success to get all departments heading in the same direction. Right now, its clear our recruitment does not align with what the manager is looking to do. You cannot run a successful club like that.

Not that the Bookies normally get it right but the early odds are

    John Kennedy 2/1
    Kevin Thomson 4/1
    David Martindale 5/1
    Scott Brown 6/1
    Ronnie Diela 8/1
    Kjetil Knutsen 10/1
    Sabri Lamouchi 14/1
    Bob Bradley 14/1

Only one I'd be happy with from that list is Knutsen.

We seem to have been linked with John Kennedy for years now!

I'd say Deila would be my choice from that lot, can't see any of them getting it though.

Out of that list only Diela and Knutsen interest me. Why does John Kennedy continusly get linked with us? Thomson has done well at Kelty but who wouldn't?

My mate is a Killie ST holder.

Says they have been brutal to watch under McInnes but at least he gets results.

    Not for me though.
McInnes has a really good record at Aberdeen, but I can't say I'd be overly excited if he was appointed, Aberdeen were always brutal playing against us under him.

I don't understand why people think he's done a good job at Killie though, his results are virtually identical to what they were before he joined (a very slight upturn in form - 0.14ppg) and with by far the biggest budget in the league the bare minimum that he should be doing is winning the league. Which they might not even do if they lose to Arbroath on Friday.

Who cares? Under the current regime they’ll get 5 months and if it’s no working they’ll get punted and round we go again.

It’ll be some American boy from Ian Gordon’s extensive contact list.
Yep. Some fans won’t be happy whoever it is. Any defeat and it’ll be straight on here to moan.

If McInnes gets the gig I’ll not be renewing three STs. God awful to watch and has won a solitary League cup despite having had the third biggest budget.

Ronny Delia for me if we can tempt him

We had a decent manager. We won’t re-appoint him. Also it kinda of doesn’t matter who gets the gig if Ben K is still running the club.
You said it yourself right there decent, we want better than decent.

I really fear that we are going to get a Ron appointment from America, someone we have never heard off but who he will want to be a success and he will throw money at to appease us and we’ll get a couple of high profile signings but ultimately will be an abject failure and we are back to square one again.
Out of the ones on the bookies list the only one that appeals is Martindale, but even then his organised crime past doesn’t sit overly comfortable with me.

John Collins assisted by Marvin Bartley would provide us with some very nice football, but with a touch of steel

You fear someone from America might fail and your preferred candidate is Martindale? Why would an experienced manager from America be more likely to fail than Martindale? Really don't understand this. Hibs are not Livi.

Also looking at the circumstance of Aberdeen's style of play. Every time they lost a player of reasonable quality they got worse to watch (Jack, Hayes, McLean, McGinn, Shinnie, GMS, Rooney, McKenna, Cosgrove) would happen anywhere if the manager stayed around as long as McInnes did IMO.

I'd second that, we could do a lot worse.

Interesting first post by the way - even although it dates back to October 2021!

"...when Hibs won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

He had a very good spell at St Johnstone too and had them playing good football. He always seemed to lose good players at Aberdeen and managed to rebuild pretty well. Any team would struggle a bit losing players. A constant thorn in our side too. Heis time at Aberdeen had just come to a natural end. I'd be very open to McInnes.

A bit left field but how about Darren Ferguson? Good reputation when he was at Peterborough and is currently doing nothing after leaving them in February. Would bring a bit of the Fergie grit and passion that's sorely needed.

And interestingly, his assistant at a couple of clubs has been Gavin Strachan who's currently coaching at Celtic but could be a good fit in the AM job at Hibs.
