Doesn't need to be a nig name though, just someone who has won stuff.

I dunno, pick 10 or 15 leagues from around Europe, excluding the big 5.

Who's won the most leagues in Croatia, or Serbia, or Norway, or Latvia or wherever in the last 10 years? There must be some clubs, of a similar size to us, that have decent managers?

There will be dozens of managers who have taken clubs into the Europa League group stages, or cup finals, or won titles.

Are we looking at them? If not, why not?

We wouldn't entertain anyone from the lower leagues in Spain or France so why would we take someone from a tiny club in England?

I don't accept for a minute that the best we can get is someone who failed in the Championship. We can offer European football (or should be able to ). There's only 6 or 7 clubs in England that can do that.

If our club is adopting a mentality similar to yours then, yeah, we're screwed.

    We need to aim higher.

What would make you think they would entertain us? Many people all over the world never want to set foot in the UK, don't speak English, and are happy living where they are.

McInnes was interviewed. Said no... due to signing policy. Source ex player
He's not the only one to have turned it down due to the signing policy/direction the club is moving in.

    Yeah, me too.
Me to, all the nonsense about Roy Keane being interested completely skewed the debate, now back to reality.

I know it’s the Sun but thought I’d share. Bit of a misleading headline as it says Appleton is as much in the mix.

Hibs face competition from several English clubs as they look to land ex-Hearts ace Lee Johnson as their new boss

Must know Appleton isn’t taking it if they are offering 16s
Or they know nothing at all and the odds only reflect the amount of money staked on each, which is often the case with next manager markets.

But pretty type of the responses on here these days.
You think it’s sad that a Hibs fan doesn’t want an ex Hearts player as manger?

    I call it common sense.

Posts like your are pretty sad though, they add nothing to the discussion.

Surely they are looking at the press reports too though? His name is still being widely linked everywhere but they are offering 16/1.

So go for guys that win things in other countries that would like to manage hibs. That is going to be a very small list, if it even is one.

I’m not convinced there are another two, I think it’s down to Appleton and Johnson as it is so difficult to keep names quiet now it would have come out if there are others.

To take that one step further, I’m not even that convinced Appleton is a serious option as he is apparently wanted by championship clubs down south. I suspect we have spoken to Appleton but we know he will take a lot of convincing and the optics of being rejected again by him wouldn’t look good at a time we really don’t need that.

    I think it’ll be Johnson.
If your right about championship clubs after Appleton, Hibs have no chance, also maybe he's a better manger than a lot on here claim.

Second rate English managers are no good to hibs and Scottish football. If Johnson or Appleton come in we will be relegated next season guaranteed
Absolutely rubbish, based on what a crystal ball. Some amount of garbage on here now.

Yeha much better going for guys in this country that have won hee-haw. at least it a a bigger list to choose from!

Why would Appleton or Johnstone come to Hibs?

Similar to Heckingbottom, they’ve got nothing to lose.

Turn up, do whatever they like until they’re paid off, then bugger off back down south with a few quid.

At least 2 more were sounded out by the club (not interviewed) but they rejected.

Kevin Thomson in talks with Raith, would he be any good at Hibs? Wouldn't be popular with some fans though.

    Not really.

There will always be a couple on the edges, but in general, when Lennon was appointed, ER was buzzing.

When Keene was linked, although there were plenty of folk saying not to go anywhere near him, Hibs social media was buzzing.

You can get a general feeling, a vibe if you like.

You just need ot read this thread.

Johnstone or Appleton might be decent appointments, but neither of them is getting the juices flowing for the majority of folk.

It's like when we got Maloney. Nobody was delighted. There were loads of folk scrambling around trying to pretend it was a good move though.

Our fans generally call it spot on when it comes to managers. The club should listen to us.
Well said, bring back the good vibrations!

Isn't our current interim manager, and player that scored winning goal in 2016, an ex hearts player?

So if he hadn't played for Hearts he would be OK? How sad is that, gezzo let's look at who they played for first, then let's see if they would be a decent manager.

Still came through their system, as did Cummings.
Do we consider then hearts players ?
Gordon Smith played for Hibs, hearts an dundee, winning championships at every club...does it matter where he came from to the other clubs?

How many managers have we offered the job to so far despite not having held formal interviews yet?
