What changes would you make for next Saturday

Today has gone and although its massively disappointing, giving ourselves a trip to that *****h0le to secure a place in the top 6 was criminal.

So what do we change for next weeks game?

Tactically we need a different plan, what that is however I really hope Sean can pull one out the bag.
Morale will be low, so hopefully the experienced guys involved in our preparation for Saturday are able to get across the fact the Saturday is never a given when we play them and that running through brick walls is what is needed.

I still think weirdly even after today we will win the game but our approach and game plan has to be executed correctly.

So here is my team for the game.

    Macy

    Cadden
    Porteous
    Doig
    Clarke

    Wright
    JDH
    Newell
    Mueller

    Jasper

    Doidge (if fit to start)

    4 - 4 - 1 - 1

    #GGTTH

    Let Jasper roam

Anyway that's only my opinion with the players we may have available.
It does highlight though how bad our squad depth is at this moment

Two up front for a start.

Melkersen is completely isolated and there is no chance of us winning the game without offering him some support.

There's little chance of Maloney changing tact unfortunately. He's welded to this way of playing, and it's highlighting his naivety and lack of ability as a manager.

Maloney, Rocky and Mueller out. Porteous and an 11th player in.

Back four of Clarke Porto hanlon and Stevenson

Midfield of cadden, JDH newell and doig

Melkerson and doidge if fit up front. If doidge isn’t fit then we are struggling for another option. Maybe take a gamble on Allan. Failing that jasper but that’s as much of a gamble. Alternatively I could but a paid of Golas and do a job

Either of the keepers, makes no difference which.

Agree with that. Let SDG do the team talk at least.

Different stadium , different competition , different situation . I would have said the same if we`d won today . Today we had to go for a win against a team that had very little pressure as they`re sure of 3rd . Next week , I wouldn`t suggest playing for et and penalties but obviously we don`t need to take risks if level either . If it`s level after 70 - 80 minutes I think there`ll be more pressure on Hearts than on us
As for team selection , first factor will be fitness . Wright and Doig seemed to have bad injuries so probably doubtful . Would be good to have a fully fit Paul Mc Ginn available but probably unlikely . Porteous back , Clarke`s looked good so got to get the best out of him - what is his best position ? Suspect Doidge will play from start for 45 - 60 minutes which may not be a bad thing as Melkerson , Jasper , Muller may be more effective as subs . Wonder if Belgian defender who`s been on bench recently might make surprise debut .

A Hampden semi final is an occasion where experience and the ability to keep calm under pressure is so important and it is also a far larger playing surface than tiny castle.
It’s a one off game, where the result is everything and so SM should be prepared to change his preferred style of play if it means securing a win. I have no idea how many of our more experienced players are match fit but if McGinn, MacGregor, Stevenson, Doidge are match fit then they should play along with Porto returning from suspension. Cadden and Doig should provide the width Clarke and Newell to provide drive from midfield. Probably Melkerson up alongside Doidge and Macey in goals purely on the basis that he has had more game time than our young keeper.
Tactics I will leave to others but the end result is to score more goals than your opponents. How it is achieved doesn’t really matter. I don’t want to read about good performances but failed to take our chances at the end of this game!

Kick the absolute **** out of them and play the ball forward at every opportunity.

    I don't care how it's done. WIN.

Route one at times is rewarding: Tottenham's 3rd goal today punt from Loris, flick from Kane buried by Son

    Play a back 4.

    Bring back the diamond.

    2 up front.

    Dabrowski

    Cadden
    Porteous
    Hanlon
    Doig

    Stevenson

    JDH
    Newell

    Allan

    Doidge
    Melkerson

I quite liked the look of Jones28's team a few higher. Mine is let down by the lack of any number 10s but at least in my team there's only 1. I'd like to get Jasper into the team is he's fit but I'm not convinced he is and I'm not convinced he fits easily into my formation (or Maloney's for that matter).

Edit - forgot all about Clarke. Stick him in for Scott Allan.

He can’t keep doing the same thing.

    Macey

    Porto
    Hanlon
    Lewis

    Clarke
    JDH
    Newel
    Allan
    Doig

    Doidge
    Melkersen

Folk complicate football. We need an extra body up the park to allow us to get up the park. Simple stuff, can’t keep doing the same ****ty thing.

Edit, won’t be anything like that.

New manager, Lewis and if fit, Darren starting. Guys who would run through walls for Hibs.
    And Porto for Rocky

Shifting deckchairs on the titanic comes to.mind.

Somehow have to shore up the midfield, hope we fluke a goal or beat them on pens (in the unlikely event we can play that long without shooting ourselves in the foot again.)

Tbh I can't see any way we win the game..players look to have chucked it, manager can't motivate or set them up to win, and Hearts know they don't even have to play well to beat us comfortably.

A depressing and sobering thought given I don't see it improving between now and the end of the season.
