There is a deal. The clubs agree a deal and then the buying club and player agrees a different deal regarding his playing contract.

Nobody is suggesting he’s a slave.
Sorry but thats not a "deal" just a speculative discussion. We are not talking about a compliant employee agreeing personal terms. There is only a "deal" if a three parties agree to something.

Two clubs agreeing a fee and everything else that goes along with a transfer between the clubs isn’t speculative discussion. It’s a deal. A football transfer just relies on more than one deal.

Shall we get Noel Edmonds in to explain this? They can agree on whatever they want but until everyone signs it's not a deal...

I’d imagine Hibs will be offering a few sweeteners in any deal. Perhaps a loyalty payment. That and a signing on fee from the buying club could well make him want to leave apart from considerations about how much playing time he’ll get with us. It’s all about negotiations and true intent of all parties
Except in this speculative case its not all about the money. Personal circumstances and family consideration are also at play. One party has a contract of employment with a company in a city whete the partner of said party is undergoing higher educational studies. The other party to the contract wants to terminate said contract but the first party doesn't. Stalemate...unless employment law has changed, which it hasn't.

Its not always about the money and players are not clubs toys to be bought and sold on eBay any more.

It is a deal. The two clubs agree a deal.

There’s then other deals to be made before the transfer can be completed.

So it's a deal within a deal? Anyway, it's an agreement in principle until all parties agree to a deal.

Mentions Motherwell, us and Abereen as options in one of the links above. So could just be bs.

he's good friends with motherwell manager Hammell, i'd be absolutely delighted if we signed Snodgrass, i've wanted him at Hibs since his Livingston days, then Leeds :) 10-14 years ago, it's been a long wait but unfortunately i think it will be Motherwell

There is no deal because the the "selling " club doesn't have an agreement with their employee. The "buying" club doesn't have an agreement the potentual employee. The Agent doesnt have agreement from the client.

If Nouble goes to hearts he will be another who Hibs.net will insist is rubbish and say how funny it is they have signed him, only for him to score in the first available derby match.

Yes, that’s the other deals to be made before the transfer can be completed.

The deal between the two clubs is still a deal though, much like I can make a deal with my mate that if Hibs win the Scottish Cup I’ll go on a mad bender with him. There’s still other parts to fall into place before that happens, but me and him still have a deal.

Meaning of the word (noun) deal
an agreement entered into by two or more parties for their mutual benefit, especially in a business or political context:

There is no deal if Doidge says no. He is a contracted employee not a slave to be traded.

He knows the manager and club don't want him, it may come that he won't even make the bench after the window, is that what he wants to do just stagnate and take a wage off the club.

Maybe he does. He was loved and offered a contract extension last year, until June 2024. He’s on his 4th permanent manager since he joined, can’t be all his fault

That decision, probably by Ross was ludicrous considering his injury was fairly serious at the time, it's now came back to haunt us as we are struggling to get him off the books.

No names unfortunately, just heard that we are close to bringing in someone which should be concluded over the weekend. Will share a name if I get it.
