Just on the main ITV news Sally Becker from Save a Child UK, she seems to have arranged a separate coach to bring another 20 kids out of Ukraine that couldn’t get on the original coach.

She went into Ukraine and was on the coach with the kids but says it’s all down to the Dnipro kids and Stevie and she just gave them a lift.

They now have accommodation sorted near Loch Lomond to keep the kids together but just need permission to bring them in without passports.

Unless this is some sort of joke as previously advised it might be better to find out if your intended recipient is interested in this sort of recognition.🤔

To many Scottish people this sort of 'honour" is at best old fashioned and ridiculous and in many politicians case utterly corrupt.

To date the British are not at all comfortable allowing Ukrainian refugees into the country in any great number unless they already have family here which isn't many😥

However on the very positive side one of the exceptions they are looking at to their credit is refugees who are sponsored by recognised charities.✅

There is a reception center in Poland (Radkow I think) which again after a very slow start is being expanded to deal with the applications.
Totally get where you are coming from. However the trouble is the folk who are genuinely deserving of some form of recognition for their charitable efforts are the sort of modest folk who will shun the limelight and if you ask them, would poo-poo any suggestion of them being recognised by an award, saying they don't do what they do for self-promotion or the badge. I don't know Stevie but I would guess there is a good chance he'd fall into that category.
So I say bash on with a nomination and if he says no later in the process (if successful, and why wouldn't he be) then so be it.

Will the kids be staying together or will fostering be looked for?

Wasn't meant to be a joke. Don't know Stevie personally so don't know his views on honours system. Just think what he did deserves some recognition for not only getting the kids out but the fund raising etc.
Whilst we still have an outdated honours system I think that what Stevie and the others involved did deserves some sort of adulation from society

I don’t know any more than what was said on the news but she gave the impression they had a big place arranged that would keep them all together and the women who run the orphanages have stayed with the kids to look after them.

Personally I think your intentions are great but a bit mistimed. Right now I think we should concentrate on funding and anything else stevie and the team need. Assuming they get here they will need supplies of clothes and bedding etc so once the team let us know we can focus on that.
As an aside I think we should keep personal info about stevie off the board. Don't know how he feels about folk discussing him and it is a public board . Just my tuppence worth

We're aiming to at least keep individual family groups together, which means finding accommodation for groups of around 7-12. The website has been updated on that this morning.

Just donated - felt good to be able to give to something where I knew there are Edinburgh people on the ground doing something positive to help.

Just a small point on the honours system.

I have been involved in nominations in the past for MBEs. This would seem the most appropriate honour to aim at.

I do agree that it would be better to wait until the particular task is completed, for one thing you would then have more positive evidence. Another point is that it is good to have a wide range of written support from a variety of sources. Happy to help eg reading over drafts etc. later down the line if you just PM me.

Good to know ther is someone with knowledge and experience, even if you are from the dark side.

Freedom of the City of Perth might be an option as well.

Apologies for not updating sooner ..

The second orphanage group arrived yesterday safely, so we currently have 5 orphanages stationed at the Cukrownia Znin Hotel (huge thank you to Group Arche for providing temporary accommodation).

We still have a couple of orphanages still in Ukraine. One is choosing to sit tight just now, the other is moving west to stay near relatives near the quieter area around Chernivitsi, but I think they are swaying towards evacuation.

I think the amount of media attention this has received is possibly ramping up the pressure for the UK government to do something, and I’m hoping we might get some news in the coming days.

I travelled to Warsaw today and flying back to Scotland tomorrow (I’ve got work to go to on Tuesday 😂).

Passing through Warsaw bus/train station was heartbreaking. It is full of displaced Ukrainians, and police and Aid Agencies trying their best to help, comfort and assure. 😞

Fingers crossed for the next few days and see what happens.

I met up with Sally by complete chance. She is an amazing woman and been in more war zones than I’ve had trips to Spain!
I’d just managed to get the first orphanages out when we heard that another two had made it onto the train from Dnipro to Lviv. She volunteered to meet with the kids and escort them on the bus that dropped us off and returned to Lviv to collect the second group. She endured an 18 hour bus journey through the night with the kids, to see them reunited.

And hats of to the bus drivers as well. They left western Poland Wednesday evening, picked me up at Katowice airport at 3am, we made it into Lviv for about midday (some may have seen the emotional reunion I had with the families) loaded up and headed through the military block posts to the border. 6 hours at border control then a drive through the night to our first temp hotel near the Belarusian border. During this leg I received notification of 2nd group on the train .. turned to our driver Jakub, and asked him if he would go back for them after dropping us off .. he winced, then looked at me and smiled and said “no problem”. Him and his back up driver were absolute stars. The two of them swapping between driving and sleeping for almost 3 days non stop. They made sure everyone had the stops that were needed and got on great with the younger kids. They pulled into Znin on Saturday morning with the 2nd group to a hero’s welcome.

Absolutely, the last thing I need is people suggesting that I might have played for Clerrie Hearts! 😡

Thanks for the concern, but most people that know me will probably confirm I’m pretty easy going about stuff like that .. water off a ducks back most of the time 😉

Must admit that I was equally shocked to discover that we shared three of same boozers in Clermiston and Drum Brae before you followed me to the Fair City.

Seriously though, you’re a star and the hugs you get from your proud family will be just reward for all your endeavours. 👏👏

What a fantastic job you and the others are doing Stevie, it's difficult to put into words how inspirational you have all been to the rest of us, even though none of you are looking for compliments. Also, when you mentioned Chernivitsi it reminded me that the actress Mila Kunis, who comes from there originally, has, along with her husband Ashton Kutcher raised over 20 million dollars so far in their GoFundMe campaign in the US in support of those affected by the war in Ukraine. Keep up the good work, you don't need people like me to remind you how important your contribution has been, just know that it will forever be appreciated.

At the moment the kids are still stuck in Poland, with time running out on their current accommodation.

We have been pushing the UK government, but they keep putting obstacles in the way.

Those involved are determined to get this over the line before the end of the week .. fingers crossed.

Disgusting reply from the English government in answer to Blackfords request for help in bringing the kids to Scotland. Basically said,” we can’t because…excuse, excuse, excuse. But we’re great, doing more than anyone else, rule f******g Britannia.
Will have to go and lie down now, fuming.
