    A write off?

I think I know the answer to this but...

Would you say our season is a write off?

We're still in the Scottish Cup but, as we can't score a goal, it's highly unlikely we'll go very far in that.

4th place gets European football and we’re in 4th place. Nowhere near a wright off for me.

    You are totally right

It was the second we hired a guy with zero managerial experience tbh.

Still lots to play for but it won't be easy to watch. Could make a massive difference to next year so hope we get 4th. It would be amazing to win the cup with three nil Nils and penalty wing to deprive Hearts of a group stage.

I'm absolutely right mate. What team hires a rookie manager and signs a whole reserve team in January if they aren't writing it off. It's very obvious we aren't fussed about this season.

Our form shows no signs of improving. We have some tough games coming up and right now we can’t even come close to scoring against the relegation fodder. We may be in 4th place but we are only 5 points form 10th.

For once I agree with you. It’s a risky strategy that could well hurt season ticket sales for next season, but if it pays off no one will care.

It doesn’t. But does any of the other teams? We’ve all been bunched up for weeks and yet we’re above them all.

Most likely 5th as well. Top 6 is a must.

Yeah I wasn’t sure about 5th but if that’s the case then suggesting the season is a write off is hugely premature.

4th place and Europe to play for, Scottish Cup semi final place to play for and a League Cup final appearance.
No way is the season a write off yet.

It feels like a return to the bad old post John Collins days when top 6 feels like an achievement, but as far as this season goes I’ll be delighted to be in the top 6 come the split and take it from there.

I'm amazed we're still in fourth, TBH.

I think we're closer to 11th, points wise, than 3rd

The most annoying thing about that is that hearts haven’t been great. They are long gone now but if we hadn’t been so crap recently we could have easily had them in reach.

I remember that argument being used the season we were relegated, everyone including myself tried to ignore the fact that we were terrible because of our league position, we all know how that worked out. Thankfully we won’t have any worries like that this season, but our league position shouldn’t be used as a comfort blanket when 1 defeat could drop us 3 or 4 places.

    United we stand here....

We have only won one league game in the last 10 and only scored in 2 of those games. We won’t be top 6 or in the cup for long at this rate and we can count our selfs lucky that Dundee and St Johnstone are far enough away.

Results have went our way for weeks, we won't be so lucky before the split. I think we need a win or three draws to get top six and I think Livi and Ross C will finish above us

I'm more worried about next season being a write off.

Because of the squad or the manager?

  27. #26
Yes, when we announced a 'project' when Maloney arrived.

I just updated my comment cos I realised we're only 13 points above 11th

Our games now are just so tedious that I wonder why I bother.

So much for the change to attacking, exciting football we were promised with the change in manager

Probably next season too unless we change manager

We wrote the season off when we sold Boyle. We were already short of attacking goal scorers/goal makers and we got rid of our only only one. We had no way of improving after that, it was inevitable that we’d struggle to score. Nothing will change my mind on that. Sacking Ross then selling Boyle was always about next season.

Neither did Mowbray or Stubbs if 'zero managerial experience' means 'only' being an assistant manager.

How would any manager get a start in the role if they had to already be a manager before getting a job?

I didn't agree with sacking Ross and I've got no idea if Maloney is the right choice but he needs more time than he's had so far before we write off the season.
