    Shane Warne

Died of a suspected heart attack. Tragic, an absolute legend of cricket. Only 52. Following another Aussie legend in Rod Marsh

    RIP Shane Warne

Shane Warne has been found dead, suspected heart attack. He was only 52 (same age as me). I guess he packed a hell of a lot into a short life though.

Surely the greatest leg spinner of all time?

    RIP.

    One of those iconic sportsmen.

The bleach blonde hair and zinc sunscreen was instantly recognisable.

    RIP.

    Shane Warne dies aged 52

Not a huge cricket fan but I think a lot of non-cricket fans will know him and this news has shocked me.

    Suspected heart attack.

Im not a fan of cricket at all but even I could appreciate the genius he was at the sport. I lived in Australia for a couple of years and he was rightfully considered god-like over there. A very sad loss for sport, only 52 is awful.

Just posted another thread as could have sworn this thread didn't appear 5 minutes ago!

I'm not the biggest cricket fan but I think a lot of non-cricket fans will be familiar with his name - very shocking news.

That Mike Gatting ball will go down as the best delivery in cricket.

    Unreal news.

cant believe this one............ RIP Warnie!

Remember the first time I ever enjoyed watching cricket was in the 90's and West Indies played Australia in a test in the West Indies - I am pretty sure the West Indies won the test but I remember Warne, McGrath and Jason Gillespie bowling for Australia more. Might have actually been Brian Lara who dragged the windies over the line

One of the greatest bowlers of all time.

Gutted. Without doubt the greatest spin bowler to ever play cricket; a supreme talent. Just 52 - tragic news.

Yip, he won test matches almost all on his own. One of the greats and will be sadly missed.

Memorable piece of sorting action. After Pat Stanton and Mark Cavendish, he’s up there as my favourite sportsman. RIP

Totally shocked to hear this, he looked in great shape whenever I saw him. He was one of those guys that transcended his sport, I could’ve listened to him talking about cricket for hours. Absolute genius of a player and a great character to boot.
    RIP
    Legend.

Cricket held no interest for me at all (still not a huge fan of it) until I was forced to watch it when the 2005 Ashes was on when I managed a boozer at the time. I couldn’t believe how absorbing it was.

Shocked at this news, a man of unbelievable talent.

Have watched a few things today about him. Some great stories
Andrew Strauss was telling one about an ashes test where Warne had just come in to bat. 1st ball from Ashley Giles and Warne goes forward and it hits the pad. Strauss shouts "you've got him Ash, he's struggling against you". Warne says "the only one struggling here is you" eyeballs Strauss and says "talk to me like that again and I'll hit the next ball for six" Strauss takes up the challenge and shouts again " you've got him Ash, he's struggling against you" Giles bowls and Warne hits it over mid wicket for six!! Total legend and a fabulous all round cricketer

The ball to Andrew Strauss wasn't too shabby either. The WTF look on Strauss's face was a picture....

Like many I'm sure, I was dumbfounded when I first saw the news.

The Australian tean were not long back in the hotel after the first day of their long-awaited Test tour in Pakistan when they got the news. Pat Cummins, Australia's current skipper, made what must have been an emotional and challenging statement in such circumstances.

"...Warnie was an all-time great, a once-in-a-century type of cricketer.

His record will live on for ever. We all grew up watching Warnie, idolising him, we all had posters on our wall, had his earrings. We loved so much his showmanship, his charisma, his tactics. He just willed himself and his team to win games for Australia. Above all else, his incredible skill as a leg-spinner.

The loss we’re all trying to wrap our heads around is huge. The game was never the same after Warnie emerged and the game will never be the same after his passing.

    Rest in peace, King...
