Bit of a shocker, really. They’re missing half the team, but still wouldn’t expect that performance, looks like the depth is not what it was.

What’s the reason for this series so soon after the ashes?

The Ashes was certainly later this year. Usually Boxing Day at the MCG is the start of the Fourth Test, with the SCG to wrap things up.

I think the main thing would be that the IPL auction is second week of February or so, with the games starting in April.

I don't think there are any English Test players (at least not capped yet) in the Windies squad, so they will get some rest before going out to the Caribbean in March for the Tests.

There is then certainly no shortage of long-form cricket as we go into and through summer, with the county season starting in April, plus what should be tough Test series against New Zealand and South Africa and a one-off Test against India.
There's only one thing better than a Hibs calendar and that's two Hibs calendars

Yeah, I think the ashes started later because of the t20 World Cup. I think there’s a test tour of the windies coming up in a month or so too.

England seem to have far too much cricket on this year, I doubt overplaying will do much to turn round their fortunes. Think Jack Ross and the run of matches that cost him his job!

Quite a finish in the game tonight. Huge partnership for the 9th wicket and England only get home by 1 run…

Huge score by the Windies tonight, England are chasing 225. So far, so good for them, but scoreboard pressure usually leads to an eventual collapse in these situations.

What a fantastic piece of work on the boundary by Jason Roy to bring England their first wicket.

    WI 60-1 after 7 overs.
