    Your dream menu

Inspired/stolen from the wonderful Off Menu podcast, thought I'd start a thread with one on here.

    Water - still or sparkling?

    Poppadoms or bread?

    Starter?

    Main course?

    Side?

    Dessert?

    Drink?

Water - still or sparkling? - Still. One of my favourite drinks, just ice cold water. Never not refreshing.

Poppadoms or bread? - Bread. My grandad was a fisherman and a baker, my mum's a tremendous home baker and I love making bread myself so a nice focaccia would be perfect. Balsamic red onions and goats cheese are my go to toppings.

Starter? - The calamari and the anchovies I had at Bodega Vasconia in Barcelona. The day after Primavera festival and I've never had better.

Main course? - The lamb sharing dish my old man and I had at The Kitchin. Rack of lamb, rump of lamb, confit carrot, confit fennel and a thick, sticky lamb sauce. So simple but could have had it ten times over.

Side? - The Queso Fundido from Mas in Dundee. Very good modern Mexican place but nice salty tortilla chips with baked, stringy, oozy and slightly blackened cheese is amazing.

Dessert? - Rhubarb Crumble and custard. I like having blitzed up hazelnuts and pumpkin seeds in my crumble mix too.

Drink? - Aqua Di Valencia. Gin, vodka, freshly squeezed orange juice and topped up with cava.

    Water - still.
    bread? Defo bread. Every time.

Starter? None. Not really bothered about a starter, bring on the main event.

Main course? Fish, chips, mushy peas and a bread roll. Drink with it would be Irn Bru. Murgatroyds Leeds. No better chippy restaurant.

    Side? Garlic bread. Simple guy.

Dessert? Chocolate cake and ice cream.

    Drink? Gin or cider.

I'm very simple. Live the dream.

Superb choice on the drink. I'll have to have a proper think about this one.

Depending on which quiz programmes you watch, that statement could mean two very different things! 😉

Water - still (I don’t get the liking for sparkling whatsoever)

Poppadoms or bread? Like both but bread. Preferably seeded and warm.

Starter? Mediterranean cream of tomato soup

    Main course? Chicken enchiladas

    Side? Fries with ketchup

Dessert? Warm sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and nae sultanas

Drink? Tall glass of Pepsi with ice (assuming the joint hasn’t got vimto or irn bru)

My Christmas Day cocktail plans involve an Aqua Di Valencia with brunch, dry martinis post dinner than in the evening one that Cerys Matthews once shared 1 get a half pint glass, add one shot of vodka and one of Tia Maria then top up with Guinness.

    It’s a joy.

Bread, fish and chips with bread and garlic bread. You should have completed the set with bread and butter pudding.

    Disappointing.
