Sorry about that - although I just have to admit that I've struggled to warm to Nisbet.

A few points I'll add here - I couldn't care less what motivates him to play well. If he has an immense December because he's playing to earn a move, I'll be delighted. I reckon Porteous is trying to earn a move at the moment, which is fine. He's not going to get one if he doesn't play to a very high standard for us and look entirely committed in the process - both of which he does. If a player like that eventually outgrows you and gets the move they've earned, I think they move on with our best wishes.

Nisbet has admitted himself that he had attitude issues, leading to him having to drop down a couple of levels to play for Raith and rebuild his career from there. His body language isn't always brilliant and it makes you wonder if there are still "issues".

I also think it's maybe a wee bit unfortunate for him that he played his best football for Hibs a long time before fans were allowed back in. Since we were allowed back into the ground I've never once seen him in the flesh play to a level I'd expect of a £3m rated Scotland internationalist. Now, if he fancies changing that at Hampden later this month then he can feel free...
You make a good point about the effect of the crowd.

I don't know how he didn't at least hit the target with the last chance of the game. Seemed harder to miss.

He would struggle to get in a top 7 or 8 of hibs strikers I've watched over the years. He's slow, unreliable first touch and gives away possession continually. He's not a bad first time finisher in his defence but his all round game doesn't justify the way he saunters round the pitch imo. I think we're dreaming if we think we'd get decent money for him after the season he has had.

To be fair I don’t know how old you are but we’ve had some belting strikers in my close to 30 years watching Hibs! I could rattle off 7 no bother and it would be no shame for our current crop not to be getting in.

Other than that point taken 👍

He’d be struggling to get in my top 20

Personally think this thread is littered with over the top criticism, and your use of "abysmal" fell into that category too. Only my opinion.

You're determined to be proved right about "how bad" you've always said he was, as is your right. I'm hoping he sticks around long enough for you and others to eat their words
abysmal, crap, rubbish, its all the same and he was all that again tonight, if as you say he stays with us long enough to prove me wrong, the question should be just how long are hibs gonna wait for this to happen.

He’d struggle to get in my top 100. Awful again tonight. I await all the excuses as to why it was yet again not his fault for the umpteenth time this season.

He jumped for a high ball in the box and totally misjudged it by about a yard, that basically sums him up right now, be lucky to get anywhere near £1m for him, he's not exactly showing any suitors he's worth more.

That was absolutely pathetic. Completely shat it.

Getting back what we paid for him would be a good deal.

Anyone expecting 7 figures for him is utterly deluded.
    Agree

I would have him on the bench for Laidlaw or O'Connor for Saturday.

I don't think they could be any worse.

I am not sticking up for him, but the service he gets from our midfield is absolutely dreadful. We do not play to our forwards strengths. Passing a ball sideways and then back to our centre Half’s to hoof forward for the opposition centre half to win in the air is just garbage

Good players don't miss the target from 5 yards out like he does consistently. Last minute chance last night a prime example. That's why he is at Hibs though. If he was any better he wouldn't be here.

Just don't get the hype some people place on him

He scored a great finish on Saturday, but it is nonsense to say he's not had service, he's missed numerous chances recently, all in the 6 yard box too.

They could and would be. Nisbet isn't in great form but still has 2 in his last 4. Both great goals as well.

He's only still at Hibs because we turned down an offer for him just over a year ago.

With hindsight we should have taken the money and ran...

I'm not having that. The reason it looks dreadful is because he barely moves and when it is played into his feet with a defender behind him he miscontrols and loses it.

I can know totally understand why he was desperate to move to Birmingham 6 months into a contract. He knew that was a step too far but he would of got a good pay day before signing for Dundee in 2 years time!

They spent £2m on Cosgrove which demonstrated their desperation at that time. He's now at Shrewsbury on loan and can't get a game.

We screwed up by not taking the money and running.

Will never get anywhere near that offer for him again...

I hope for his sake he is not playing his way out of Steve Clarke’s squad.

I'm surprised that he's still in it.

On form this season Tony Watt deserves to be in it over him.

Absolutely no chance we’ll get it.

Who pays 7 figures for a player with a **** first touch, poor work rate, average goal record and in a world where 99% of decent attacking sides play with one central striker, needs a partner?

  26. #145
Doubt Nisbet is going anywhere until a new manager is installed. Despite the Scotland caps (r maybe because of them) his value has dwindled this season. They will try and get him back on track and his value up before flogging him.

Yeah I don’t think his form right now warrants a place in the national side. And I like Nisbet. Like you say, there are other options available and on form.

Hopefully he’s in the next squad owing to his form with us though!

He doesn't warrant a place in our side and hasn't for months.

Sadly when the other options are a unfit Scott, Injured Doidge and Gullan whom Jack didn't fancy as a player we had no choice but to keep playing him.
