And he has the cheek to write "How do you sleep?" for McCartney.

No problem Billy its just I have a recollection that there was a article in a newspaper that her name appeared on it to keep the chairman happy. Johnny did this as a Labour of Love so probably wasn't that bothered.
    Happy to go with that[/QUOTE]

I believe Sheila did write, at least the lyrics, to Hibernian Give Us A Goal. My family & Hart family were good friends at the time. Johnny certainly took over & made a huge contribution to both the writing & production of the record. The music for the 'Turnbull Tornadoes' side is based on an old traditional song about a horse, Skewball, so was Lennon's lesser known effort!
I was also lucky enough to get to know Johnny & his sons, Martin & Kevin (RIP) in later life.
On a separate note Everton still walk out to Z Cars, as did Watford until 2019. Z Cars was performed by the Johnny Keating Orchestra & was a Top 10 hit!

Annoyingly, he never gave the Hibs fans any credit. You'd expect better of him.

Is there a reason why 'Turnball's Tornadoes' sounds so similar to 'Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon, or just a coincidence? I used to think that they were the same song with different lyrics when I was a kid!

Both songs melody was based the traditional song Skewball (AKA Stewball in America).

Iconic HIBS song written and performed by that big jambo Colin Chisholm ex Bilbo Baggins according to a comedy gold thread over on Keekback

    Still pishin masel laughing

Should have more of these songs at Easter Road on the Big Screen imho
Not sure of your reasoning here Billy or what you mean but Colin Chisholm did indeed perform the song in question, was a Hearts man, probably still is, and was schooled and lived in a wee part of the world where he was definitely the exception to that rule.

My reasoning was that the poster in question on Keekback said that he was a regular in Luckies at the time so he must be a yam

    Still a tune though

    No?

He is definitely a Hearts supporter and always was. I don’t read Kickback but the poster called it right.
Yes, it’s a tune if that’s yer bag of a tune but one definitely performed by a Hearts fan.

Sorry if that’s spoiled it but it was never a secret. He can still be seen doing the old 1-5 thing in some circles.

The song we are talking about was first played at Easter Rd on the night Hibs played Rangers in a Scottish Cup replay.Over Fifty thousand at the game which Hibs unfortunately lost 2-1 to them.Seem to recall that the winner was scored by Tommy McLean.Carnage on the terraces and afterwards.

Sheila Hart wrote the words and music to Hibernian (give us a goal)
    Johnny Keating did Turbulls Tornadoes
Look at the 45 label which is correct

Sheila was a talented writer in her own right composing many songs.

Listened to Turnbull’s Tornadoes just now, by christ it took me back. Elbe St , Leith ( long demolished tenement). The best month in my Hibs loving history. League Cup victory over Celtic, 8-1 Ayr Utd, soon to be followed by the greatest game in history.

I was 8 years old and Hibs had a song that sounded uncannily like Merry Xmas-War is Over, by John Lennon. It had a slightly melancholy feel to it, then the rousing Hibs, Hibs, Hibs for the cup. Loved it.

Just to settle things. The song was written by John Keating and James McPherson, Sheila Hart is uncredited. Copyright is John Keating Music Ltd.

Johnny Keating wrote both of them Billy. Tom Hart wanted Sheila to be given a bit of credit but she did not write it
