Remember when we made a pop record for the final.

I am sure it was the 1972 league cup final the club and made the pop record Turnbulls Tornadoes and Hibernian give us a goal. They composer I think was Johnny Keating my dads mate from school.
Still sung today at games stood the test of time.
Wonder what song would be done today probably a rap by Ryan.

    John Lennon.

He was staying with an aunt in Currie at the time.

He was at the Hibs game v East Fife in 1968 and heard the Hibs fans singing, "all we are saying, is give us a goal", before you know the buggers got a solo single out and Give Peace a Chance becomes a worldwide hit.

We need to add this man to the famous Hibs supporters. Produced the singles and wrote most of it as well.Shelia Harts input was suggesting the tune for it.

Billy doing this from memory but Johnny was my dads pal at school. My dad would cut out articles relating to Johnny. You must have some collection of stuff on Hibs. Keep up the good work mate you should write a book I would certainly buy it.

The song we are talking about was first played at Easter Rd on the night Hibs played Rangers in a Scottish Cup replay.Over Fifty thousand at the game which Hibs unfortunately lost 2-1 to them.Seem to recall that the winner was scored by Tommy McLean.Carnage on the terraces and afterwards.

Sheila Hart wrote the words and music to Hibernian (give us a goal)
    Johnny Keating did Turbulls Tornadoes
Look at the 45 label which is correct

Sheila was a talented writer in her own right composing many songs.

Listened to Turnbull’s Tornadoes just now, by christ it took me back. Elbe St , Leith ( long demolished tenement). The best month in my Hibs loving history. League Cup victory over Celtic, 8-1 Ayr Utd, soon to be followed by the greatest game in history.

I was 8 years old and Hibs had a song that sounded uncannily like Merry Xmas-War is Over, by John Lennon. It had a slightly melancholy feel to it, then the rousing Hibs, Hibs, Hibs for the cup. Loved it.

Just to settle things. The song was written by John Keating and James McPherson, Sheila Hart is uncredited. Copyright is John Keating Music Ltd.
