    Hampden

The League Cup final will be our 6th visit to Hampden in less than 14 months.

    Must be a record surely?

I mind telling everyone to enjoy it while it lasted a few years ago, given that we didn't go once between 2007 and 2012. How wrong I was...

That will have brought in absolute massive amount of revenue to the club.

Probably looking at atleast a million if not more from the semi final and final appearance this season alone.

Should help us improve the squad in January.

Money from semi finals and final is split 4 ways (after a cut goes to the SFA) hence how important it is to always reach the semi finals.
No crowds Covid did us out of a lot of cup money last season.

surely the losers in both SF's don't get a cut from the final ?

Just goes to show how much we've progressed as a club. Yes it hurts when you get there and fall at the last hurdle but the fact we're consistently there means the chance of winning increases greatly. Additionally our league positions are getting more consistent.

I appreciate that when you start to achieve consistently expectations increase but let's enjoy these moments, we're doing well.

I would think the cut goes to the SPFL-it’s their competition-and they will pay a fee to the SFA for the rental of Hampden.

    Another wee stat about Hampden

We've only won 9 times there since 2000. 3 of those wins have come against Rangers

Pretty sure we got money last year from the final.

It was quite clearly built on the cheap, is too small to be our 'National' Stadium, and the seats behind the goals are ridiculously far from the pitch.

Apart from that it's not too bad.

The semifinals gate money is split 4 ways after deductions and the final is split 2 ways after deductions. A share goes to the SPFL not the SFA .

SFA will also get a cut as they must rent out Hampden for these games.

Would you rather it was bigger & looked half empty. Only Celtic v Rangers would fill it. Scotland have only started filling it as they are winning.

After the Scotland game on Monday and our game on Sunday, we can definitely put to bed the nonsense that Hampden can’t generate a cracking atmosphere.

Our record against them in cup games is outstanding, it's equally as bad against the other half of the erse cheek, here's hoping we buck that trend in the final.

Fans generate an atmosphere. Hampden is a rubbish ground but I wouldn't change it. Going there feels special and my best Hibs memories are there.

I do think the fact it's single-tiered round three sides of the stadium definitely contributes towards a better atmosphere, especially compared to more modern stadia like Wembley, but yeah, I agree about the memories, wouldn't want to change it

Build a new national stadium outside Stirling.

I don't think there is much wrong with Hampden . The view was fine and the atmosphere on Sunday was the best I've been in for a long time. (5 years!).
I watched a bit of the Spain v Sweden game from Seville last week. Poor atmosphere and the crowd looked further away from the pitch than Hampden .

    Hampden is outside Stirling 😉
There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

If people did not want to take Hibs to Straiton why on earth would you want to stick a national stadium in some god forsaken field miles away from any decent pubic transport? Madness.

My wife is from Bridge of Allan, just outside Stirling.

Having watched a few Hibs matches in local pubs there over the years, I can confirm that it is Hun central so would hardly be a neutral area for us.

Also, the pubs are thin on the ground and crap.

    Its a no from me.

  29. #28
The constant moans about it being terrible for getting to and from are strange. The only stadium in the country that comes close in terms of good public transport links is Murrayfield. Then you’ve also got it’s proximity to the motorway and pubs etc. If you were building something from scratch you’d struggle to find a better location considering it would have to be in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Was just reading the regs on this (posted by Billy Whizz on other thread). It's ...

    - 20% to the SFA as owners of Hampden
    - SPFL expenses deducted from balance
    - 5% of remaining balance to SPFL
    - subsequent remaining balance split 50-50 between clubs

Presumably Donkey & co will be busy scheming to get the last point changed in Celtc's favour.
