As much chance of Phillips of Leeds going to Man Utd as Porteous going to Hearts. Not a hope.
Given hearts wouldn't raise the funds for Porto but utd could for Phillips, your argument falls down there.

Secondly, the loads of examples of Leeds to utd transfers, including die hard Leeds fans.

I don't think utd will try for Phillips.

    Yep, so did Rio Ferdinand.

A better comparison to Phillips would be Alan Smith though. Born in Leeds, came through the youth team there. Played about 200 games for Leeds, then signed for Man Utd.

I don’t think Man Utd will sign Philips, but I’ve no doubt Leeds would sell, and he’d go if they wanted him.

There's been quite a few over the years, Dan James went the other way in the last window

I don’t think Phillips leaves Leeds for Man Utd he’s well loved by the fans there and it’s mutual to go to Man Utd does seem to fit, West Ham already said they’d be after 100m for rice so SJM might just be next on the list.

Big rumours of the guy Fuchs from Dundee Utd signing pre contract with Celtic id have loved us to have got him stands out like a sore thumb for them
£100m for that pudding Rice, that is insane!

If they got that for Rice they could go after McGinn as a replacement.

I was at the West Ham game on Saturday and I was surprised by how good he was. Really stood out for West Ham as being their best player by miles.

I actually wondered how much he would be worth while watching him and it’s hard to see West Ham accepting anything less than a completely bonkers bid.

Precisely this. Over inflated prices aren’t his problem but a player worth it if they want to spend it.

He is 22. There is absolutely no way a player of his quality and experience aged 22 is going for less than 100 million these days. He is extremely good.

If McGinn was English he'd be worth £100M.

This argument is nonsense as he really wouldn’t. He’s nowhere near as good as grealish or Declan rice.

Not as good as Kalvin Phillips either

Have to say, I definitely agree with you here! Rice I can maybe just agree with. But he's better than Phillips.

as a big fan of both, and a weekly TV follower of Leeds i'm not too sure about that one, KP didn't get much of a look-in at the recent England v Scotland Euro game, he was pretty quiet indeed, both have a hell of an engine, KP slightly better in the defensive side of things but SJM a better finisher. imo

No danger! Mcginn is the complete midfielder and does everything they all do. He can play at any level he wants.

He’s absolutely outstanding. In today’s market, and the fact he’s 22, got a few years on his contract, I don’t think that’s that unrealistic.

In London, doing better in the league and he will be paid more. I can't see it been a step down?

He won’t be paid more at West Ham. Villa are loaded and can match anyone’s wage. Not sure why being in London would be that important to SJM. West Ham are doing better at the moment, but I don’t think there’s miles between the sides.

If he’s looking for a step up, West Ham aren’t that.

European football might entice him that way.
