Watching us huff and puff without any edge last night made it strange we didn't throw Allan on.
Can only guess we were trying not to cup tie him.
Gutted to see him go, but looks inevitable now.🙁

Aye exactly, lot of posturing nonsense. Sure they’ll enjoy whipping that wee clip out. Not really a reason we shouldnt be signing him though.
There’s a picture of Cummings doing the 5-1 thing at Tynecastle, was I thinking about that while he was putting hearts to the sword on route to lifting the Scottish Cup? Was I ****

He's injury prone, seems to have a bad attitude and can't even get a game for Blackpool.
He has played plenty for Blackpool.

From what I can see he's 25 and made 88 appearances for Man Utd ,Hearts & Blackpool. Think he may have had a long term injury which kept him.outnforna while. I remember his first spell at Hearts where he looked very good. Apart from that I have no idea how he's done.

Blackpool fans on the whole don't seem that fussed about him leaving.

My one and only memory of Demetri Mitchell is a pretty decent performance as LWB in the streak-breaking cup win over us a few years ago. Presume Maloney would want to play him as a winger?

We can afford a better class of players now, hibs always knew that Boyle would be leaving so they must have been looking for replacements, it's going to be an interesting 10 days

Patrick McPartlin in EEN saying Mitchell on the radar as cover on the left, not as replacement for Boyle.

So looking at our activity so far..

I still feel we are short - we have brought in 6 but really it’s 5 if you exclude Tait and then we have the injury to Clarke and work permit issue.

We have 3 who have gone out now including our fastest / most influential stats wise and arguably our best player.

We need another 2 I feel and ready to go players who will make a difference like Mueller. A central midfielder for me is the most obvious.

This is before any more players possibly going - Gogic - McGregor / Mackie etc.

    Confirmed in (6):
Rocky Bushiri, six month loan (defender, Norwich)

Harry Clarke, one and a half year loan (defender, Arsenal) - injured 4-6 weeks minimum

Ewan Henderson, six month loan then three year contract (midfielder, Celtic)

Elias Melkersen, four and a half year contract (striker, Bodo/Glimt) awaiting work permit

Chris Mueller, three and a half year contract (midfielder, Orlando City)

Dylan Tait, three and a half year contract (midfielder, Raith) - gone on loan

    Confirmed out (3):
    Martin Boyle (Al-Faisaly)
    Jamie Gullan (Raith)
    Nathan Wood (Middlesbrough)

    Confirmed out on loan (3):
    Jack Brydon (Edinburgh City)
    Daniel MacKay (Kilmarnock)
    Dylan Tait (Kilmarnock)

Hibs had the Norwegian left back lined up in the event Doig left in the summer so I would assume there is a list of likely replacements for Boyle that we have been sounding out since the negotiations with Al-Faisaly were progressing in the last week or so.

Which begs the question why are we looking to try and sign him We really don’t want to be wasting whatever money Maloney gets from the Boyle Transfer

I see a young lad out there who generally can’t defend, too far off his man and the majority of the time, failing to stop the cross coming in. He doesn’t get himself in good defensive positions and the opposition get joy down our left hand side. Going forward he looks quite awkward and he doesn’t know what really he is trying to do when in possession. If he does get in to a crossing position, the majority of the time, it either goes out of play or hits the first defender. When a cross does come in, it’s either too heavy or doesn’t find a man, however well done on spotting last nights assist, thats what happens when he gets it right and it should happen more often with the positions he finds himself in.

I can’t fault his effort or stamina and I don’t think all the transfer talk in the summer has helped him however I do know what I am seeing front of me and it is not a player who appears to be comfy in his role.

I wish for him to do well, I really do but he has a long long way to go.
I agree your comments about Doig defensively which is why I think Maloney plays him exclusively as a wingback. FWIW I thought he was excellent last night. When others were flagging he was driving us on and continually taking us up the pitch. Even though he missed a good chance it was exceptional for him to be in that position. (Separately it was one of several excellent forward passes from Newell last night). I thought Josh got his reward with his assist and I'll be more than happy if he continues to perform like last night.

Given Scotty didn’t get game time last night you have to assume he will want away

I thought Mitchell was excellent in his 1st spell at Hearts, he genuinely worried me. I would be happy to see him come in.

  19. #5448
You’d imagine Blackpool will want a fairly decent fee to get Mitchell now.

We’ve started spending a fair bit of money, hopefully it’s all going to the right players.

A player I always rate and would have liked to se at us was Scott McCann who is now at Dundee United.

Cyprus, got released by Famagusta hence the Killie return.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Is Mitchell not a bit injury prone too?

I’ve said it a couple of times now but we need to recruit quality that will improve our starting 11 now.

No more “exciting player with massive potential and is our 5th signing this window under 22”.

Let’s get some players who will come in and hit the ground running.

Why does he need two big suitcases and a backpack to go for signing talks? Surely he'll be gone a day or two to agree things, have a medical and sign a contract?

Maybe those are pictures of one of the times Martin went off for 2-3 weeks with Oz.

He is going to Oz… he’s got qualifiers.

We so need to recruit a commanding, tough industrious midfielder with a v8 engine attached! That for me is what we are missing.

To be fair a mix of comments in that. A good few praising him.

Good signing for them. Works like an absolute dog and scores a decent amount of goals which is the exact opposite of what they currently have.

On a side note delighted for Cummings, that’s a great move for him.

He was first time roundBut seen the mention of injuries and Blackpool Hibs saying he isn’t very good Given he is down that neck of the woods assumed he knows more about current form
