When we were about 11th going into the match?

I think we'll get a good crowd for this, although the trains is a problem.
I'm thinking more about the semi final against them in 2017 when we went into the game in 6th place, had just got a draw at Parkhead a couple of weeks beforehand and yet only took around 10,000 to Hampden.

We can easily fill out our end at a Cup Final, but semi-finals are a different prospect entirely

Plus we usually get a lot less at LC Semi Finals than at SC Semi Finals

You'd have to check with HC to be sure but I think there's one an hour via Bathgate, plus a couple of Cross Country trains.

The problem is that the trains via Bathgate are already totally mobbed, even without football fans. Trust me, that's the one I went on to the game on Sunday and it was standing room only by the time we went past Coatbridge.

Trains via the A-B line on a Sunday are mobbed, and very slow as they stop at every lamppost. There is massive potential for trouble on those trains as well given the areas they travel through from which Rangers fans will be joining the trains as well. The line may also be closed for engineering works, thats the message coming up on the app, check back at a later date.

When it comes to semi finals a lot of our support seem to find reasons to sit at home and watch it on the telly. Scotrail have handed them the reasons this time. Could be a lot worse kick off times than 4pm on a Sunday by the way.

  10. #69
At least it’s a decent kick off time the usual excuse is the early kick off you can go by car bus and there is ways to go by train if you plan and really want to go cmon guys it’s a semi final at our 2nd home plenty time to plan ahead re travel let’s sell this out and get right behind this team ggtth

I wonder if Hibs might arrange buses for the semi to counter the impact of the train issues……would perhaps see a bigger turnout ….

Full or part subsidy of supporters buses would make a huge difference to the attendance.

They could get a sponsor for the buses which covers cost and charge fans 5 quid head with free scarf.

    Have some sympathy with this

We live in a country where the national stadium is under 120mins away (some teams have "local derbies" that take longer to travel to)

There are busses, trains, cars, supporters busses that folk can access

The kickoff is not late or night or early in the morning

And most of all, our Hibs team this season is well worth backing

As the great Sicilian author Sciascia said "a ciascuno il suo (to each his own)" but for me, I cannot wait for this game & I will be there

Can't help but look back on our LC semi a few seasons ago against Celtic. Cold, dark, pissing down, pumped, carnage at Mount Florida trying to leave. Will i let that put me off? Absolutely not

Add to the fact we missed 4 trips to Hampden since the pandemic began people will be itching to go to this. I know I certainly am

That's normally all true, but sadly not the trains this time.

This is a genuine issue for a lot folk. I took about two hours on Sunday to get from Mount Florida to ER using the available trains and it's going to be much worse for anybody coming through to the Semi-Final.

I'm guessing train is probably how about 30% of our support get to Hampden for these games. If that option isn't available it's undoubtedly going to impact on the crowd we take.

There simply won't be enough buses/bus drivers to take the thousands of folk who normally go by train.

Who is staffing these trains, managers/scabs?

    Yeah, that wasn't great.

I'd really love us to take a big support to this one and get right behind the team. They've more than earned it.

Not a conductor in sight on the Sunday slow coach to Helensburgh. Must be drivers willing to work...
The service is utterly mobbed and someone had the bright idea of bolting all the windows shut just to ramp up the covid roulette.

Around 90% of trains in Scotland are not running on Sundays and it's been that way since April.
It's about conductors being paid less than drivers when called in on a scheduled day off. No idea how often that happens but there's obviously not much going on to address the situation, which is a scandal.

They are driver only operation services (DOO), something thats been campaigned against since the 80's, theres supposed to be a 2nd person on board for safety reasons but its not beyond the realms of possibility that the train ran with just a driver breaching the agreement.

Drivers are not scabbing as they're a different union but the managers who are covering may well be in the same union as those who are taking action, I applaud you for not using the services. Up the workers.
