Very strong with the Colonial North American history metaphors though.

Who’d have thought we’d discussing the Salem Witch Trials, and Atlantic slave trade on a thread about new seats? .

In all seriousness, let’s all avoid the hyperbole. Let’s just agree to disagree respectively. I think getting involved with the club is a very positive thing.
I often wonder why it’s only this area that is discussed whenever slavery gets brought up?

Scratch the surface and there’s lot to learn about slavery the world over, for over 3500 years. It mostly gets ignored.

Another thread ruined by the same poster. Habitual.
Ruined? If anything it's the opposite. Busiest thread on the board today!

    Looks good there.

The screens, ‘HFC’, electronic ribbons and all the other stuff getting done in the stadium will definitely make it feel better and I dare say add more of a wow factor for potential signing.

Players now a days are very materialistic. Some flashy screens and a training centre will help persuade them (along with their wage, European football etc) to come to us instead of Hearts/Aberdeen.

it will also give them the feeling that we’re growing and heading in the right direction.

I agree. Usual suspects who can't take hibs being criticised just throwing in their usual deary me's and not contributing to debate.

Perhaps my choice of wording was a tad extreme. But I've made my thoughts clear. Hibs will present this as a community project, hibs class event etc but really it's robbing Peter to pay Paul. Robbing good hibs fans to pay for big screens.
Nobody is being robbed!! The fans aren't even paying for the privilege to help!
There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

Of course not, but would the members there volunteer to help out after forking out their membership fees? I doubt it.

I pay my ST money, buy Merch and donate to HSL to help the club. Now they want my free time too?
never realised the club had specifically asked for you to help, would be an odd thing for them to do so seeing as you equate voluntary work with slave labour. Or could it be that you are just a slave(r).

    Clueless.

Plenty of people volunteer at their local golf courses after paying their membership. To them it’s a way of helping out their club! You know just like football fans might want to help out their club.

It’s not the “usual suspects” at all on this one. It’s everyone. Maybe take the hint

Mr O you have got this all wrong.
There will be things to criticise about Hibs business in the future but not this.
Hibs could easily pay for the work to be done.
But that is not the point.
This has nothing to do with Ron.
This is to do with KP and other supporters taking the initiative and doing something they want to do.
Most of us are only inside Easter Road for 2 hours 20 times a season.
As soon as the match is over we are lobbed out.
This initiative gives folk a chance to feel more a part of the club they obsess about.
Time to be there when it's quiet, take in the feel of the place, look around, meet Hibs staff and other supporters as they did yesterday..
Look on the volunteering thread and you will find a poster Neves who was doing weeding yesterday. I suspect he isn't into weeding normally but said he enjoyed himself.
In essence this isn't about Hibs saving money it about supporters bonding closer with their club and perhaps even weeding or cleaning up an area near their seat or in their line of sight that annoys them on match day.

If slave labour is your thing then crack on. Hibs as a business turn over way more money than I'll ever have and Ron is worth an insane amount too. So if I've got free time to volunteer I'd far rather be using it to help someone who's worse off than I am.
I’m here volunteering, doesn’t feel too much like slave labour.
    Nonsense comment

Hibs are my club, and I care about us a lot. But the current PR alley we're being lead down is one of a better business and more investment in the club. But then on the other hand Hibs still want handouts?

Sorry but you can't spend money on big screens one day and then ask for "volunteers" the next.
Not sure how many times you need to be told, but I’ll go for it one more time.

Fans volunteered to help… the club did not ask.

Well done to fellow St Pats man Keiran Power for this.

Different things altogether. Would you volunteer to help Trump fix up his golf course?
I did some divot fixing at my golf club in the summer. Ended up being a nice morning to talk to other memeber about the club etc.
    This is exactly the same

I volunteer to take my neighbours bins out every week. They dinnae pay me, they’ve never paid me, and now I kind of feel like I’m due reparations.

I offered to go and pick up my daughter from school tonight.

On second thoughts she can take the f*****' bus like everyone else.

What does she think I am? What did her last one die of?....

You need to hold a dirty protest, empty the bin on the doorstep, don't let them take you for granted!!

Who do they think they are? Grace Jones?

People have been asking to volunteer for a while now and the club have taken them up on it. Being a football fan is completely different to any other business and most people will feel privileged to have been able to contribute to the club they love.
