    Our recent European form

Since after the 1st leg v Odense, our record is 6 wins 2 draws 1 loss, scored 22, conceded 13
Pretty good...no embarrassing results and a good contribution to the coefficient

It's been good and importantly no horror stories since the Virtanen goalkeeping mistake at Easter Road which eventually cost us the tie.
Another year or two and I can see us making the group stages of the conference which will give us a good income boost to keep us going forward when combined with the player flipping which is on the launch pad. Achieving that regularly would satisfy me.
Don't think we are quite strong enough this season with two difficult ties to negotiate but we won't embarrass ourselves.

Wasn't odense in 2006? Do you mean brondby?

We've done alright in Europe recently. Molde was one we were a bit unlucky in too. Literally once or twice a generation player in Haland playing for them.

It's been OK but there is absolutely heaps of room for improvement.

Losing against Molde was a case in point as to why it's been so long since we did anything in Europe - we sold our best player just prior to our exit while Molde kept theirs and we were duly handed our backsides. Notwithstanding that result we had probably our best campaign in decades that season and the main reason was that the vast majority of the side that got us into Europe were still with us to reap the rewards.

For most of our most forgetable European exits we have sold off the key players that got us there and fielded sides that barely know each other against tough European sides who are often ahead of us in terms of early season fitness. A recipe for disaster.

I used to find some fans attitudes to bad European results a bit bizarre. 'As long as we are ready for the league season' was a fairly common refrain for a while. Then when the league season comes around we are essentially playing for that same easily dismissed European place, which is the best possible realistic outcome for us.

Getting to the group stages or final play off rounds in Europe is a big ask but it's something we should be striving towards. If we as fans are happy just to write it off then it begs the question as to what the point is. Is it just the chance to have a piss up and a couple of days off work?

I don’t think anyone writes it off. The comments are usually in response to signing activity. The European games are usually pretty early in the cycle and it is more relevant to get the right players in rather than just get people in for the European games.

If you get better players in on longer contracts you should be in a better place the next time round. Think that has been more the case recently.

When Malmö hammered us for example we had a number of 19 year olds on the pitch making up numbers.

What was the score in the away leg against the team from the Faroes that we played a couple of seasons ago? Was it 5-4 or 4-3, something like that?

6-4 away, thought it was 6-2 at home?

I always laugh at English clubs for that. Smaller sides fight tooth and nail to get into Europe, then play weakened sides so they are ready for a league tilt - to get back into Europe. Crazy!

    Definitely 6-1, 6-4.

    A good score in tennis.

Always kinda felt like we weren’t ready or equipped for when European games came around getting drawn against teams who were half way through their season and us at the start of a season but I don’t feel this way about us this year. We seem fit and organised which is probably a benefit of having the squad still together pretty much and maybe less a break due to covid from the season ending. Whatever the reason are I defo feel we are in a better place this season
