He’s so far out of his depth it’s embarrassing. I’m actually starting to feel sorry for him. I’m sure most refs watch the game back and analyse their performance, this guy is going to have a hard time doing that.

    United we stand here....

I just hope that none of his decisions lead to a serious injury for a Hibs player. This performance has leg break all over it sadly.

Thank god he won't officiate next week. Pathetic refereeing.

But not as pathetic as this pub team. Horrible little club. They can F right off.

Probably the worst ref performance i’ve seen. Still can’t believe Newell was sent off for that.

I can't comment on the Newell red card as couldn't see it from the bottom of the East - but he was definitely the worst referee I have ever seen in 40+ years

On a par with the infamous Craig Henry Edward Albert Thomson.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

I think that goes down as the worst refereeing performance I’ve ever seen.

It probably sounds over the top to those not there tonight but he was genuinely the worst referee I’ve ever seen. And I don’t even mean from a big decision point of view. He got the penalty and their two red cards right. I couldn’t say if Newell was or wasn’t because while there didn’t look like much in it I can’t say if the ref has spotted studs or two feet etc.

He genuinely just lost control of the game within 5/10. Was inconsistent with what was a card and what wasn’t. He was quick to run around making big displays to act the school teacher to everyone. He was spotting fouls that were never there (for both sides). And genuinely just disrupting the entire flow of the game needlessly. Which wasn’t helped by them disrupting it by kicking anyone in green.

‘The Craig Thomson of Andorra’ damns him with faint praise.

The foul on Boyle was the worst. You can see the Santa Coloma player slide in from three yards away at pace, realising he had missed the ball and Boyle, then change the path of his leg to catch Boyle's leg. At the speed he was lunging in, it could have been a leg breaker.

I thought the one with Porto breaking was the worst tbh. What he’s seen there I have no idea. A foul on RP goes to them

100%, with Newell he went for his pocket then stopped, checked the player, spoke to his assistant and then gave the red eventually. The Boyle one he couldn’t have got the yellow card out quicker. Boyle was lucky his leg wasn’t planted as the boy done him good and proper.

If UEFA are gonna use Refs from Iceland they'd be better using Kerry Katona

Thankfully our players escaped any serious injuries. Amateur opposition and amateur officiating

He was on long lost families a few weeks ago, reunited with his brother Alan Freeland.

Talking about referees. I remember when I was a bit younger sitting in the famous 5 and watching a fan run on the park at half time trying to kick the referee.

Anyone else have any recollection of that at all?

Is that the Brebner red card game, 1-0 last minute O'Connor derby winner? Maybe 2001?
