If Latvia can hold out for a draw here that'd be great for us. Almost puts Norway out of contention for a seeded place.

It probably puts Norway out altogether as they play the Netherlands in their last game and Turkey play Montenegro.

Turkey just need to match Norway's result to finish ahead of them.

Finished 0-0 so how does that suit us?

Norway are probably now out as they're away to the Netherlands in their last game, Turkey are still a potential problem though especially if they beat Montenegro in their last game as they'll go to 15 points, which means they would go above us if we lose to Denmark.

If we draw with Denmark then we'll possibly still finish above Turkey as we're currently on +5 and Turkey's on +1 so if we draw then Turkey would need to beat Montenegro 4-0 to overtake us on goals scored.

Czech Republic or Wales could also beat us to a seeded place.

He’s another manager who would be held in much higher regard if he didn’t have a working class accent or a more exotic sounding name. Got a lot of time for Yogi.

    Norway - 11
    North Macedonia - 9

No...Turkey are still in the mix. Montenegro are pointless agaisnt the top 3 so could easily lose by a few....they, like Wales will know whats needed after our game is over

I suspect turkey will get to 15 points as well.
Or even win the group with the runner up being at least 15 points.

    Beaten to it!

I would be happy to be drawn against any of them apart from the Swiss

  24. #7073
    So permutations (I think!) for Scotland to get seeded in the play off draw;

Win - Guaranteed to be seeded.

Draw - In Group E - We would need Belgium to beat Wales or if it's a draw between Belgium and Wales our draw needs to be higher scoring than theirs by two goals - i.e. 2-2 v 0-0.

We would also need help in Group G - We need no more than one of Netherlands, Turkey and Norway to reach 21 points and if two of them do get 21 points, we would need those teams to have a goal difference of less than +5.

Netherlands are out of reach in terms of goal difference, Turkey are currently on +1 and Norway are on +2. Our best bet would be Netherlands beating Norway and Turkey beating Montenegro by less than 4-0.

Loss - In Group E - We would need Belgium to beat Wales than a bigger scoreline than we lose to Denmark AND Czech Republic to draw or lose to Estonia.

Also in Group G - Norway fail to beat Netherlands AND Turkey fail to beat Montenegro.

All very complicated, if anyone spots a mistake feel free to correct me.

If I'm right with my permutations then I'd say our chances of being seeded with a draw are about 80% and a loss at less than 5%.

I agree we need something from Denmark game to be seeded, however not the end of the world if we are unseeded.

We can go for it on Monday in the knowledge we have another game coming up

We’d be underdogs against all the seeded teams (possibly excluding Wales?) and narrow favourites against the unseeded teams (but I don’t fancy playing Turkey either).

I wouldn't mind Turkey thought they were pretty poor in the Euros. Wouldn't mind Wales or Norway either.

Montenegro just drew with Holland last night from two goals down and drew with Turkey in Istanbul 2 2 so clearly not pointless against better teams and assume will fancy their chances on Tuesday.

Your point about knowing what they need to do is absolutely valid though. Big advantage though other side is could put them under pressure if don't score early.

Obviously the flip side to that is if Scotland get a win v Denmark tomorrow then we know we have done what we need to do.

They were really poor in the Euros, spot on. I can only imagine there was some sort of stuff going on behind the scenes because their best players are world class, and they are still playing really well at their clubs. Have beaten Holland and Norway, I’d want to avoid them. (Holland did hump them 6-1 also so clearly one of those teams that on their day can blow up)
