Another banal observation from me is that the Turkish manager looks like a guy who would have been chain smoking in the dug out if this game was played 30 years ago.

Did the ball really just get taken on the pitch by a remote controlled VW car! Advertising gone a bit too far.

    Fancy a draw tonight.

A few of the big guns have struggled in their opening games of tournaments in recent years.

Turkey have had some good results in the last couple of years. Turning over Holland, Norway and Russia and drawing with Croatia, Serbia and Germany.

Overall I fancy France to win it. I think England would be a real threat with a better manager. Excellent group of players, bang average gaffer.
couldn't agree more. Englands attacking players are superb however bit like Man City aren't good enough defensively to win at the top level imo.

Always very impressive whistlers the Turkish fans. I remember back in 1996 being suitably impressed by being able to boo/whistle the oppostion players every time they touched the ball from the first minute to the last!

P.S Never knew the game was in Rome !! Even more confident Italy will win now
Neither did I..which is why I thought turkey might grab a point, they are actually the home team weirdly enough

On very very early viewing I don't think Italy have enough quality in the middle of the park to win the whole thing.

Some save but Chiellini really should put it away

Maybe but its way too early to say. Many teams grow into the tournament as it goes on. Italy 1982 anyone? They were so bad in the group stages it was untrue. We all know what happened after that. Winning the tournament is all about the knockout stages, the group stage is just about getting to the knock out stage.

Not a classic thus far. Turkey look decent enough on the ball but struggling to get out their own half and it's very negative at times. The one time they really got their attacking players involved they worked the keeper.

Italy have been a bit scrappy and haven't really got into any rhythm yet. Probably should be one up though.

Jenas can big this game up as much as he wants, but this has been a poor 45 minutes of football. Italy lack any real threat up front and Turkey lack an entire midfield.

    Ive quite enjoyed it myself.

Great to see an opening game in a major tournament and after what weve been through great to see and hear fans there. Its a bit attack v defence but I kind of expected that, Turkey are still in the game.

    It’ll be a window between 12 and 7 then.

Does Robbie Savage add anything? He’s so dull.

Would Italy benefit from sitting a bit deeper and trying to draw Turkey out?

Not the Euros but Boyle scored for Australia in a 3-0 win. Assist by Jackson Irvine.
