There was a match against Aberdeen at ER in the 80s, I think Hugh Ferguson might have been the ref and the final score was 0-4 (IIRC).

Even though the sheep were miles better than us at the time, I can't remember a crowd being so angry with the referee. Absolutely everything went Aberdeen's way.

There was a game under Mowbray I think,we played at home against Motherwell and Charlie Richmond was the ref that day.I’ve never been so incensed at a game of football. He was absolutely horrendous in every aspect and I’m sure he was escorted off the pitch by police at FT

I’m sure we won the game though
We had a spell where we had a few tetchy games with Motherwell. I think Butcher was their manager at the time and they were often unhappy with the ref after the game.

In defence of the referees in those instances - they were proper, blood and thunder games that took a bit of sorting out by a referee and when you had a poor one (like Richmond) it was a recipe for disaster.

Alan Ferguson. Worst performance I’ve ever seen from a ref involved in any Hibs game. Absolute shocker. Freeland, Muir, Richmond - all shockers, but none of them come close to that howler from Ferguson against Aberdeen.

Cheers, that's the one. From Giffnock IIRC.

    It was Henderson.

Two stonewall penalties were "ignored" by Muir in the space of a few seconds.
Was it not technically three given that the Falkirk player handled the ball twice before booting Henderson?

No. I gave it to Tom Wright - for a time it was one of the strips on display as part of the stadium tour he did.
I can’t understand why you’d want to give that away..😜

Well done for doing your bit for the cause.

Watching that and second leg you realise just how fortunate they were to win over 2 legs. 2 wonder goals at home, with Cummings hitting the bar, the 2 penalties we should have had at Easter road, the flukey goal at Easter road when it squeezed through Logan.

It was a great team they had, remind me a bit of St Johnston, not brilliant individuals but they worked like hell and were a solid unit.

Then they scrap their academy programme? Bizarre decision.

Think that might have been Scottish cup 3rd round 1983 when we got beat 4-1. 2-0 down at half time and wondering if I could get time off for a replay.

One of the worst refereeing performances i've ever witnessed (and thats saying something as I've seen countless absolute shockers over the years!).

So bad it actually became comical.

That was my then four year old son’s first visit to Easter Road. He loved it despite the scarey lady sat next to him screaming abuse at Freeland. His Mum had calmed down by the time we got back to the car though.
My boy’s first game too. Was the first HibsKids match of the season.

    Worst. Referring. Performance. Ever.

Yip, I remember being in the old North enclosure for that game. It was a shocking performance from the ref. Aberdeen were a great side at that time but they also clearly intimidated refs. The two Falkirk games were bad but that Aberdeen game had to be seen to be believed. The crowd were going absolutely mental. Some of the Hibs players were too
