    Pat Nevin

Just completed ‘The Accidental Footballer’ more than just a book about a football player, highly recommended!

Been a while since I read a book in a couple of sessions, I wish there was more of his type of player in the game today.

I’ve gone the full range of emotions with Nevin; when he was a player, I loved his swagger and style, later on as a radio pundit I confused his confidence for being overly full of his opinions and a bit smug, and now he’s the pundit I listen to most about a wide range of subjects, especially music. He’s just totally authentic.

He was CEO at Motherwell for a while. Maybe our next CEO?

Not if his Motherwell history is taken into account 😆

He was only doing what he was told to be fair.

The board at that time didn't help him.

Pat's cracking guy, I used to sit beside him and his lad, he fell in love with Hibs when his son wanted to go to football and he hated the toxic atmosphere at Celtic, his boyhood team. He brought him to ER and the rest is history as they say.

If Tanner is actually away to Dundee having Pat on Hibs TV would be good

Always very friendly and polite when he used to come into the cinema at Fort Kinnaird (the previous incarnation) with his kids and usually ordered a triple scoop of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey! Will definitely read this book.

Met him at the airport in Nice during the woman’s World Cup a couple of years ago. He was great company. Loads of cracking stories and a real affection for Hibs.

I saw him on the bus at Edinburgh Airport one time. He came across as a decent man from the way he treated the car park bus driver.

Too many people treat the drivers as nobodies or ignore them, but he was polite and treated him as an equal.

Probably not relevant to the thread, but I just wanted to share my positive impression.

Can understand his rationale. I’ve felt we have always handled our Irish connections well and much better than Celtc. We recognise it’s part of our roots and proud of it but first and foremost, we are an Edinburgh and Scottish club and don’t play up to the worst excesses of Irish republicanism like them lot do. It is toxic at Celtc no matter how they may dress it

I think he proves that you can be yourself in really difficult circumstances and without looking for any validation or reward and also that a sense of humour is a great human quality.

Where you hearing him discuss music? Is it a radio 6 thing or just something you stumbled across sometime?

Talking about Pat Nevin, I don't think I've ever seen a more unselfish, team player in all my days of watching football. If there were only more Pat Nevins.

Would be a great shout as CEO had a hell of a lot to deal with at Motherwell at the time. If not CEO club should get him on board in some capacity. Could be a good fan rep.

If no fans next season. Pat Nevin on Hibs TV would be a winner.

He used to sit, just to the left of me in the East
Does he have a seat somewhere else now?

I met Pat in Galashiels McDs the week before the Livvy- Hibs league cup final ( will brush over that )
I was with my lad ( now 24! ) And he couldn't have been nicer, have the wee man his autograph and was happy to chat away to both of us. I've seen him in the East stand a few times too.
    Top bloke

I sat just to his left there, we were near neighbours at one point until I moved down nearer the front.

    Left by mutual consent!
Always thought his BBC tactical analysis clips were great. Seems a really genuine guy every time I've heard him speak. Definitely would be great on HibsTV if that could happen.
